@flyfishcedarci1 @BryanSteil I didn't believe you about the Republican policies pushing mfg overseas (vis-a-vis Democrat policies). But it does appear that most mfg job loss (as % of pop) corresponds directly with Republican presidents. At least after 1960.

Integral to this theory is that the Fed did nothing for a full year after the "transitory" inflation was first detected. During which time more deals were mispriced at artificially low interest rates.

As time goes by I have become increasingly convinced that the exorbitant covid ZIRP and QE were deliberately intended to nuke the RE market. Or we had a complete moron in charge. (And he's still there! 😂)

Here's what "that's not sustainable long term" means: Residential rents are gross so their net income is rent less real estate taxes, insurance, and operating expenses... which I can assure you nearly always increase. Therefore, net income declines from already low levels.

McChrystal is himself the son and grandson of career military officers, with family service including WW2. Basically, he's saying the professional military system that produced himself was... defective. 😕

McChrystal interviewed by David French. According to McChrystal, the effort against Iran will be as fruitless as his own efforts against the Taliban. 🤔 Here he argues against a professional military.

@TheProjectUnity Indeed we did, people who knew the value of leverage, pivots, and a damn good hard days work. Three unheard of concepts today. Go and watch all of Wall Wallingtons videos on how to move huge stones by yourself.

A leveraged fund says it has enough liquidity to meet 5% redemptions each quarter for the next year without selling a single position or asset. Is “liquidity” a euphemism for “borrowing capacity” here? If so, just more leverage. Whoopsie!

Remember when we were told the Middle East war is bearish for #grain demand (because the Gulf won’t be buying)? Not fully agree - looks mostly neutral. Iran continues to import crops for domestic consumption (see FT below, with some of our quotes), while Saudi Arabia is sourcing grain via Red Sea ports. Riyadh has also announced an initiative to supply neighbors (Qatar, Kuwait, etc.) via land routes from its Red Sea terminals. ---- FT: At least six vessels unloaded at the Iranian port of Imam Khomeini, a key commercial hub in the north of the Gulf, and then passed through the strait in Iran’s territorial waters between March 15 and 16, according to FT analysis of marine tracking data. Although Iran produces much of its own food, it still relies heavily on imports of grain and oilseeds. These imports are processed into cooking oil as well as livestock feed. The country produced about 1.5mn tonnes of corn a year and imported between 8mn and 10mn tonnes, mainly from Brazil, Andrey Sizov, managing director of grain consultancy SovEcon, said. Agriculture had been “a pain point” for the Iranian regime, Sizov said, noting that the country was already facing a critical water shortage before the conflict, which has hindered agricultural production. “It’s a huge problem for farmers,” he added. Before the war, Iranian authorities reported that 4mn tonnes of wheat had been set aside as strategic reserves, enough to meet demand for approximately four months. … Tehran announced it was halting all exports of food and agricultural goods until further notice, aiming to secure enough supplies for its population. Even before the conflict, increasing food costs had already pushed many Iranian families into hunger. Annual inflation was 47.5 per cent as of February, according to Iran’s statistical agency. #oatt #wheat #corn #iran

@GayBearRes Even more interesting in that Pakistan has a mutual defense pact with KSA. But Pakistan and Iran are both Islamic Republics, maybe that will help.

Wally Wallington, the enemy of crap documentaries everywere. Go and watch his stuff, he is a retired construction worker, who has demonstrated with simple means how he can move massive blocks on his own, without even a SINGLE alien spaceship to help him. Its almost as if, if you had one human who can move blocks weighing several thousand pounds, if you had thousands of people you could move blocks the size of ancient monuments... But nah, definetly aliens did it, although they were not very good aliens as the early pyramids are really rough, scrappy and small, so they must have come here to learn how to do it themselves too .... yes that makes the MOST sense.
