Mechanical and biodegradable ‘weed’ management poses exactly the same problems. A big part of the issue is that councils often don’t have a management plan at all. They simply take an indiscriminate approach, irrespective of the method, when what is needed is nuance.

The main issues with councils using glyphosate to remove plants is not public health risk - the amounts they use are tiny - but that we’re spending money to eliminate food sources for our threatened insects and removing greenery known to enhance mental health and wellbeing.

There isn't enough physical space for every single household to store its fleet of personal vehicles in front of the home, nor is there space for everyone to drive at the same time. So let's fix that. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/05/19/car…

Fountainbridge pavement has been closed for nearly 10 months. Originally closed for 4 weeks, then 6, then this sign went up. Other pavement is less than 1m in places. Cycle lanes removed. What happened to CEC travel hierarchy? @LivingStreetsEd @thecockburn @SpokesLothian

I'd really like to hear from people who work and live in Leith how they've enjoyed the LTN - this is the final push to make it permanent and we need to gather all the positive stories that we can! Do you walk / cycle more? Let the cat out? Use fewer inhalers?

🤸‍♀️🌳 Safer streets for kids. Greener spaces for all. Less space for cars. The outcome when you ask 5.000 #Amsterdammers to choose between all goals within the limitations of the street. The advice for the city council is clear! And the lessons for other urban leaders too!

I’ll say it again — Paris wasn’t “always this way.” It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was there last. This is new. This was a choice. This is leadership. Video from my friend @CarlosMorenoFr #Paris x.com/CarlosMorenoFr…

Any thoughts on the safety of these new steps in Dalry Community Park? If you were walking down the steps, had eyesight issues or not paying attention, would you possible not realise the steps diverted off to the side? No tactiles on the landings. Handrails down the "wrong side".

What are you afraid of? Sharks🦈, lions🦁,bears🐻? Terrifying. Car traffic kills way more people than animals ever could. Even when excluding indirect harm. Watch out for the real predators🚗!

Our values & priorities are revealed in thousands of small but important details in our city design, deliberate decisions that have prioritized cars over people for decades. It will take equally deliberate decisions to change to cities for people. HT Dutch cartoon by Verwey, 1980

This iconic @FabianTodorovic cartoon is still one of the best at illustrating the amount of space we surrender to cars, leaving little space left for everyone/everything else. The newer @london_chrisp text makes the bonus point that many drivers still manage to complain about it.

Wasn’t to be for my SNP and Green colleagues today. Rest assured we will continue as we have been for the last 2 1/2 years working our collective arses off from opposition. I am enormously proud of my culture spokesperson role & of the communities I am honoured to represent.
