October 14th, 2021 will mark 7 months since we lost our son. I spent the last week thinking about him and about the life he should’ve had. I was caught up in the moment and wrote the following poem (1/12):

@LeeWard47487511 @ianbremmer Does that commitment and organization still exist today? at best its been weakened somewhat. To the OP's point, its not "political hackery" to sound the alarm. This area of the world needs support in this type of crisis to prevent it from spiraling out of control.

worth remembering the 2014-2015 ebola outbreak in west africa. the united states was fully engaged, deploying nearly 3,000 service members to help with logistics and health care, and had the Intelligence community studying and mapping out road, air, and water transport routes to limit the potential spread.   important example of effective us leadership and international engagement.

@CycloneGrav @ianbremmer There were over 28,000 Ebola cases in that same region from 2014-2016, over 11,000 people died during that two years. This isn’t new

@ianbremmer Bro, there has been multiple yearly outbreaks in the region since 2018, this isn’t new. There were 45 confirmed deaths last year. Stop trying to make a story that doesn’t exist. You’re a partisan political hack.

Most businesses, distributors etc operate at around 30% profit to make it worthwhile. This pays overhead etc, and left with a small percentage of actual profit on the books. But I'm retarded because this is the internet and people don't really understand anything at all so I don't know why I even bothered to discuss this.

NEW: The cost of President Trump's plan to repair the Reflecting Pool has jumped by 88 percent, to $13.1M, gov't records show. The price appears to include a 20 percent profit margin for Trump's handpicked contractor, who got the job in a no-bid contract. nytimes.com/2026/05/11/us/…

In my opinion, Washington made a catastrophic decision by going ALL-IN on the "13 Days to Flatten Iran's Oil" pipedream, and now are rapidly realizing how disastrously it overpromised and underdelivered. As a result of this, the Trump Administration is now being put in a position where if they look like the aggressor (again), they will face severe domestic backlash. For this reason, they are attempting to bait the Iranian's into attacking U.S. vessels so that they have the cover of "defensive measures" to restart this conflict because they know their current strategy has failed miserably. Whether or not a U.S. vessel was struck or not this morning by Iran, it is clear that the U.S. is trying to find a way to restart the conflict without being "at fault" because they know this waiting game they have been playing until Iran shuts-in their oil wells and "explodes their oil infrastructure" was promised on a downright ridiculous timeline.

SORKIN: You just said Powell should 'cash in' on his role as Fed chair. Would you say the same thing about a senator who finishes their term? I think the American public thinks that's untoward SEN. Hi Ryan, not sure why you’ve made this about race but since you brought it up all races are having their rights eroded by this ideology. By its definition it’s about putting us into groups and encouraging division. But to be specific - free speech, religious liberty, and association come to mind.

Seth Meyers reminds us how batshit crazy the last 3 weeks have been: Trump fired AG Pam Bondi. He posted a meme of himself as Jesus then said he thought it was a meme of himself as a doctor. He said the Pope is weak on crime. A MAGA podcaster said Trump is under demonic influence. Pete Hegseth read a fake bible verse from Pulp Fiction. Kash Patel thought he was fired because he got locked out of his computer. A FEMA official claims he once teleported to a Waffle House. Lindsey Graham was seen at Disney World by himself. RFK Jr. cut off a dead raccoon’s penis on the side of the road. Kristi Noem’s husband has giant fake balloon boobs.

@Raging_Cloner @elcorncapitan its not so much choosing one or the other but rather an indication of where our priorities lay. our public ed has tanked over 20 years and we seem fine with it but this somehow is an imperative. The economy stinks partly because we can't educate and keep our kids in state.

@CycloneGrav @elcorncapitan But we aren’t properly funding it. Injecting $20m to keep a few hundred million dollar economic engine churning is a no brainer. You aren’t choosing athletes over education. You are choosing to keep education funding by investing into the athletics revenue driver

No the absolute-fuck they should not. School funding is constantly being gutted, teachers salaries constantly reduced, social programs like free lunch for underprivileged students eliminated, dilapidated infrastructure etc. But sure, spend money on athletes.
Cloner@Raging_Cloner

@elcorncapitan This comment is so out of touch. The economic value Iowa/Iowa State athletics bring to the state far exceed any kickback the universities would receive. States SHOULD be doing this

@elcorncapitan So you’re suggesting letting one of the states biggest revenue drivers go to shit so their is even less money to give to the aforementioned shortfalls. Got it. Makes a ton of sense
