Tamin Lipsey has been the cornerstone to TJ Otzelberger bringing this program back.
Local kid who isn’t the most athletic, isn’t the quickest, doesn’t look the part - but Lipsey has helped set the culture and has come up huge today without Joshua Jefferson.

Iowa State beating Kentucky by 20 plus without their All-American should be surprising, but it isn’t.
It is telling. Of the importance of roster fit, culture and development. They lost a star, but he was just a cog in the machine. Thats how a team with ~1/3 of the NIL can win a game like that.

For years, we were told the Big 12 was the best conference in college hoops.
Since the Big 12 expanded:
* Regular season champs: Houston, Houston, Arizona
* Tournament champs: Iowa State, Houston, Arizona/Houston

It’s 1,197 miles from the campus of Arizona. It’s the functional equivalent of the Big 12 hosting the tournament in Eloy, Arizona. Could you imagine that?

Conference tournaments are a terrible way to determine who gets an NCAA Tourney bid from a mid-major league. The regular season champion should go.
