Algerian Watch Thief Jailed For 21 Months. A 19 year old Algerian migrant branded a professional thief by the judge has sentenced to 21 months in prison for violently snatching a luxury watch from a Chinese chemistry professors wrist in Mayfair. Mohamed Sellaoui, an illegal immigrant already on bail for another theft at the time, stalked his victim outside the Langan's Brasserie in Mayfair before launching a violent daylight attack in February 2024. CCTV captured the shocking moment Sellaoui and an accomplice pounced the victim, Jiangfeng Ni as he left the upmarket restaurant with a friend. The professor was pushed, cornered, and grappled with as the thieves tried to snatch the high end timepiece from his wrist. He resisted, but the thiefs eventually succeeded. The victim, a respected academic from Soochow University in China, later told the court the watch was deeply sentimental and that the incident had left him feeling very nervous in London. Sellaoui was convicted of robbery at Southwark Crown Court after a three day trial. Judge Gregory Perrins described him as a professional thief with a clear pattern of behaviour, no remorse, and a high risk of reoffending. Despite this, he was sentenced to just 21 months for the watch robbery. He was already in custody and remains behind bars serving that term. Concurrent sentences for a later £1,500 backpack theft from a City worker in March 2025 added no extra time to his sentence. The judge ordered his deportation to Algeria upon release as a foreign national offender with no ties to the UK. This case isn't an isolated incident. Algerian nationals have been repeatedly linked to a disturbing pattern of luxury watch thefts targeting the rich in London. In March 2026, Belal Amine, 26, was jailed for four years and Gabriel Kamali, 23, was sentenced to three years after the two Algerian small boat migrants tore a £65,000 Patek Philippe watch from a man's wrist as he posed for a photo beside his Bentley in Mayfair alongside his pregnant wife in a planned robbery. In April 2026, Zakaria Senouci, 27, was jailed for three years and nine months after the Algerian migrant pounced on a 73 year old pensioner near Hyde Park and snatched his £30,000 Patek Philippe watch from his wrist. Also in April 2026, Abdulkarim Ienbuzir, 25, was jailed for four and a half years after the Algerian stole more than £100,000 worth of luxury watches, including an £85,000 Patek Philippe watch outside the Ritz, in a spree of robberies between July and September 2025 while supposedly in London checking on his asylum application. These cases highlight a troubling trend of young Algerian men, many arriving via small boats or illegally, viewing Britain's streets and the British public as easy targets. As London's pavements remain stalked by opportunistic thieves, questions mount over border control, sentencing leniency, and whether deportation after short terms is truly enough to stem the growing migrant crime wave engulfing the capital. Sellaoui is expected to serve roughly half of his 21 month sentence in custody under standard UK release rules, meaning he could be back on the streets in around 10-11 months, before automatic release on licence for the remainder. As a foreign national subject to deportation, he may qualify for the Early Removal Scheme, potentially allowing him to be removed to Algeria even earlier once he has served the minimum qualifying period. #UKNews #CrimeNews #Mayfair #London

Turkish Lorry Driver Jailed For Rape In Kent. A Turkish lorry driver who subjected a vulnerable teenager to a rape in the back of his cab before fleeing the country has finally been brought to justice. Samet Duman, 35, of St Hilda's Way, Gravesend, Kent, was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison at the Old Bailey this month, after a jury convicted him following a two week trial. The attack took place on August 30, 2023, in London Road, Kent. Duman, driving a foreign registered lorry, lured the teenage girl into his vehicle before attacking her in the cab. Kent Police launched a major investigation after the victim reported the stranger rape. Detectives analysed CCTV footage, which captured the distinctive foreign lorry parked at the scene. Forensic teams recovered DNA evidence from the victim, but at the time, there was no match on the national database. The match came in 2024 when Duman was arrested for an unrelated matter. His DNA was uploaded to the national database, delivering a conclusive match to the Greenhithe rape. By then, the Turkish national had already fled back to his home country. Officers circulated him as a wanted person both nationally and internationally. Intelligence revealed he planned to return to the UK, this resulted in his dramatic arrest at Stansted Airport on June 7, 2025, moments after he stepped off a plane from Turkey. During the trial, Duman denied everything, spinning what prosecutors described as a web of false and contradictory accounts. His lies continued right through to the jury's verdict. Investigating officer Detective Constable James Lake: "This was a terrifying and deeply traumatic ordeal for the victim, who was targeted by a stranger and subjected to an appalling offence. Thanks to the victim’s courage and the perseverance of the investigative team, he has now been held fully accountable for his actions." Duman will serve his eight years and eight months sentence in a UK prison. Racist Rapist John Ashby Jailed For Religiously Aggravated Rape of Sikh Woman in Her Own Home. A 32 year old vile racist of no fixed address has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 14 years after admitting the religiously aggravated rape of a Sikh woman in Walsall. John Ashby, 32, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court where his trial began on Monday. He initially denied charges of rape, intentional strangulation, robbery, and religiously aggravated assault. On Tuesday he dramatically changed his plea and pleaded guilty to all offences. The court heard how the victim, a woman in her 20s of Indian Sikh heritage, was completely unaware she was being targeted as she travelled home from Walsall town centre on the evening of 25 October 2025. Prosecutor Phil Bradley KC told the court that Ashby followed her off the bus into the Park Hall area, loitered outside her property, armed himself with a large stick, and forced his way inside. Once in the house, Ashby cornered his victim. When she tried to lock herself in the bathroom for safety, he forced his way in, turned off the lights, and subjected her to a sustained and violent sexual assault lasting 24 minutes. He beat her with the stick, strangled her, and degraded her further, including forcing her into the bath with hot water. During the rape, Ashby showered his victim with racist and Islamophobic abuse, repeatedly calling her a f*cking Muslim b*tch, questioning why she wasn’t wearing a hijab, making derogatory remarks about the Muslim faith and demanding she say hallelujah during the attack. The victim managed to scream for help during the ordeal. Neighbours rushed to her aid after hearing her desperate cries, and Ashby fled the scene. He stole jewellery and her mobile phone before leaving. Days later, the woman picked Ashby out in an identity parade. Today at Birmingham Crown Court, Mr Justice Pepperall sentenced Ashby to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 14 years. The judge described Ashby as a deeply unpleasant racist and Islamophobe who posed an extreme danger to women. Bedford Man Jailed For Sexually Abusing Teenage Girl & Forcing Her Into Secret Islamic Marriage. A 24 year old religion of peace subscriber from Bedford has been jailed after he was found guilty of sexually abusing a vulnerable teenager and coercing her into an Islamic marriage ceremony conducted over the internet, while she was under 18 and had no understanding of the proceedings. Mohammed Al-Amin, of Saxon Way in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court to three years and seven months in prison for one count of forced marriage and two counts of sexual activity with a child. The court heard how Al-Amin began his sexual abuse of the girl when she was in her early teens, subjecting her to a campaign of coercive and controlling behaviour that left her living in fear. Bedfordshire Police said the victim was pressured into an Islamic nikah ceremony via video call in a language she did not understand. She was made to wear traditional clothing and conform to strict expectations on how she should dress and behave, all to avoid bringing shame on Al-Amin and his family. After the relationship ended, Al-Amin sent abusive and threatening messages to the young victim, including threats he would murder her family. The brave teenager finally found the courage to report the abuse to police in February last year. Detectives launched an investigation that uncovered the full extent of the ordeal she had endured. Al-Amin was convicted following a trial and yesterday faced justice. In addition to his three years and seven months prison term, he was handed a five year restraining order and will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years. Afghan Migrant Jailed For Sexually Assaulting 7 Year Old In Asylum Hotel In London. A small boat migrant who worked for the Taliban has been jailed for two and a half years after luring a seven year old girl away from her mother with an apple, dragging her down a corridor by the arm and sexually assaulting her in his taxpayer funded asylum hotel room. Afsar Safi, 30, an Afghan national who crossed the Channel illegally in a small boat in 2021, openly admitted in his asylum application that he had been with the Taliban since the age of 10. Despite his claim being refused, he appealed and was housed in a hotel in Acton, West London. In September last year, Safi approached the child and her mother in the hotel, used the apple to entice the little girl away, then grabbed her arm and hauled her to his room. Once inside, he sexually assaulted her. The child managed to escape by alerting staff. In court she told jurors through tears: "I could not tell him to go away because I was too scared." Safi, speaking through an interpreter, told the court: "I like children and she was a child." He was convicted of kidnapping and sexual assault at Isleworth Crown Court. Yesterday he was sentenced to 2 and a half years in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for seven years, but could be back on the streets on licence in as little as six months. This isn't an isolated incident. Afghan nationals are three times more likely to be convicted of sexual offences than British nationals. - Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, Just four months after arriving on a small boat, he abducted and raped a 12 year old girl in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, in July 2025. He filmed himself laughing during the attack. Jailed for 15 years at Warwick Crown Court in March 2026. - Jan Jahanzeb and Israr Niazal, both 17, Two unaccompanied Afghan asylum seekers who arrived via small boat raped a 15 year old child in a Leamington Spa park in May 2025. They lured the distressed schoolgirl away from her friends into a secluded area despite her protests. Both received custodial sentences of around 10 years in a young offenders institution, with deportation recommended. - Sadeq Nikzad, 29, This Afghan small boat arrival followed a 15 year old girl through Falkirk town centre in October 2023. He made sexual remarks, led her into a courtyard near a pub and raped her. His defence cited cultural differences and child marriage norms in Afghanistan. Jailed for nine years with deportation to follow. - Sohail Amiri, 30, Another small boat arrival housed in a Southampton asylum hotel sexually assaulted two lone women on the street and attempted a third in late 2025. He pushed one victim against a letterbox and forced another into bushes while demanding kisses, leaving them petrified. Jailed for three years in March 2026. Police forces including West Yorkshire have recorded multiple arrests of Afghan nationals for rape and sexual assault. The flood of overwhelmingly young male small boat arrivals from high conflict zones and culturally distant regions where child marriage is accepted, combined with inadequate vetting and weak sentencing, isn't just putting British women and children in danger, it's making them a target.
