update 1 hour later: pushed it to FULL 256k context on my dgx spark. zero speed loss. now holding 17-18 tok/s on long convos. step-3.5 REAP has hybrid SWA. only 12 of 45 layers have KV cache that grows with context. the other 33 cap at 1024 sliding window cells. so KV at 256k = 6.6gb. at 32k it was 0.9gb. paying ~5gb extra for 8x more context. fits easily. what to skip on spark: > no --mlock. spark has zero swap. locking 94gb of pages buys you nothing and adds 8-10 minutes to startup. > don't waste headroom on f16 KV. q8_0 halves it at no quality cost worth measuring. > don't be conservative with -c. start at 262144. what to do: > -fa on always > -ctk q8_0 -ctv q8_0 > --slot-save-path /tmp/llama-slots gives you /slots/0?action=stop to kill stuck inference > read the load log. n_ctx_train tells you the model's real ceiling, and the kv_cache lines tell you what each context size actually costs biggest lesson for me: the conservative defaults from the qwen3 era don't apply to hybrid-SWA models. step-3.5 lets you pay full-context price once and use it forever. still criminally underrated. 121B params, full 256k context, wild.

The antenna connects directly to AWS. No public internet routing. Delta's operational data, crew communications, passenger streaming, real-time AI analytics from seatback to cloud with private network interconnect. Starlink sells you a wifi pipe. Amazon sells you infrastructure. United has 800 Starlink planes. IAG committed 500. Lufthansa committed 850. Collectively, thousands of aircraft locked into Starlink's ecosystem. Amazon looked at that and decided: we'll take fewer airlines but own the entire data layer underneath them. Delta's 500 planes running on AWS through Leo is worth more to Amazon than 5,000 planes on commodity wifi. The $10 billion on satellites was never the product. The antenna was the product. And the antenna is a trojan horse for AWS.
