@mgtruth Did similar last night. Had the holy trinity of soups & stews (onion, celery, & carrot) anyway & saw 454g in Tesco reduced (use before 13th). So grabbed it added about 200 g lentils & got stewing. Everything else already in cupboard. Got about 8 meals out of it! Satisfying.

@Martina I was on a bus in Dublin & the driver announced ‘I apologise for the delay but wish take a brief stop as we are ahead of the timetable’.

@diarmaidm @Economicopoly Indeed I was in Berlin recently and noticed the high street homogenisation big time. Niece asked where’s hotel. Between Burger King and Primark I replied. Alexanderplatz if you’re interested.

This development, like Clerys...pitched as A Grade building & location but cannot get A grade tenants and likely A grade commercial rents. Another example of disconnect between macro economic data and lived reality in Ireland. Neoliberal banal Dublin may have cannibalized too much of what made it attractive for too many people. Better policy makers would strike a more sustainable balance. @SineadOS1 @laoisedebrun @Nick_Delehanty

Another “fabulous” tenant joins the Central Plaza lineup. For such a prime city centre development, I’m amazed the letting agents couldn’t find a better mix of shops. Every letting has been a big disappointment. And how much American fast food does one city need?

@magamiadav @Samdani4232 Redistricting is a two edged sword. It can boomerang 🪃. If a swing against republicans is bigger than expected they will end up with a loss of seats. Look at what happened in Hungary last month.

@Berlinnaeus When you look at the reasons for the reduction in the VAT rate it’s clear the hospitality industry does not intend to pass it on.
They cited the increase in minimum wage and auto enrolment. These won’t go away

Colin and Eithne Bell are actual saints.
What they have done since their son Kevin's death has never ceased to amaze.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust is unique, and so are they.

@Cyrilorme3 @archer_rs Nothing in the US will show taxes on the price tag.

@AndyPlumb4 @Nicola9232 I spend a lot of time at various times of the year in the lakes ( thanks to an Aunt having a flat in keswick) , the lakes are full of tourists many of them foreign thats what happens in tourist areas
English

Flag shagger @Nicola9232 takes a sneaky long distance photo of brown men on a hike in the Lakes, and then goes into full meltdown as to why they have the audacity to stare right back at her.
Is this really what our country has become? It’s disgusting.

@FrDidymus @dvdpeters Every day should be Mother’s Day. I’d give everything to say ‘mammy I love you’ again. Haven’t said that on Mothering Sunday 1981. She died the eve of shrove Tuesday 1982. Friday is her 100th birthday anniversary. Excuse me I’m mopey this month.
English

@dvdpeters We have mothering Sunday. Traditionally when people went back to their mother Church where they were christened. Which morphed into a holiday when domestic servants went home. Which morphed into a day honouring our mothers. So it definitely exists over here. 4th Sunday in Lent
