Last summer, I introduced the Persian Gulf Act after Trump threatened to rename it. Today, Pete Hegseth referred to it as the Arabian Gulf. The Persian Gulf has been recognized as such by international bodies for centuries. Trump and Hegseth can’t change that now.

USS Frank E. Peterson (DDG 121) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) transited the Strait of Hormuz and operated in the Arabian Gulf as part of a broader mission to ensure the strait is fully clear of sea mines previously laid by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

بحسب المعلومات: - خلال المفاوضات كان موقف الولايات المتحدة هو أن "اسرائيل" من المستحيل أن تقبل بهدنة في لبنان على دفعة واحدة، وأن واشنطن أقنعت تل أبيب بوقف إطلاق نار تدريجي يبدأ ببيروت والضاحية ثم يتوسّع ليشمل كل لبنان. - الأميركي حاول مرارًا القول للوفد الإيراني أن ملف لبنان لا يعنيكم طالما الدولة في لبنان ذاهبة للتفاوض المباشر مع "اسرائيل". رد المفاوض الإيراني كان هو أن طهران تفاوض عن إرادة جزء وازن من اللبنانيين وطهران لن تتخلّى عم حمايتهم والوقوف الى جانبهم وحمل قضاياهم. - بعد انتهاء الجولة الأولى اليوم سيعود الوفد الإيراني إلى طهران ليجري عملية تقييم لمدى التزام واشنطن بما اتّفقوا عليه. وسيكون موضوع وقف إطلاق النار في لبنان من الأمور التي ستكون ضمن التقييم الإيراني. وعلى أساس هذا التقييم ستقرّر طهران خطواتها اللاحقة.

It is no coincidence that @PeteHegseth suffered a resounding defeat in the war against #Iran—particularly over control of the Strait of #Hormuz. His main problem? He searched for the Strait of Hormuz in a wrong place, not knowing that it lies in the #PersianGulf. Our humble advice to him: repeat “Persian Gulf” ten times each morning. It may not win him the next war, but at least he’ll show up in the right place.

This is slow-motion footage of the moment the Ras Laffan gas field in Qatar was targeted by ballistic missiles of the IRGC Aerospace Force in response to Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s South Pars gas field on March 18-19, 2026. You can see that no THAAD or Patriot PAC-3 systems of Qatar or the U.S. Army were able to prevent the missiles from getting through. Imagine if the U.S. and Israel had targeted Iran’s power plants a few days earlier—what could have happened to the oil and gas infrastructure of the Persian Gulf states? It is likely many of these facilities would have been set ablaze, potentially driving oil prices above $300 per barrel. I don’t think this is even an option on the table. The Emirates placed their bet and lost. They need to accept it and chart a new course. Who would be crazy enough to buy a multi-million-dollar property in Dubai, look out the window, and realize there are missiles aimed at them just 200 km away? Market reality is unforgiving, it will soon force the sheikhs back down to earth.

As long as the UAE is not in Islamabad, JD Vance and the Islamic regime in Iran will fail in Pakistan. The UAE does not, and will not, accept the Islamic regime in Iran controlling access to the Strait of Hormuz, nor possessing nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, drones, or any capabilities that threaten regional security. This regime must issue a formal apology to the UAE for its aggression, acknowledge its actions, provide full compensation for any harm caused to individuals and institutions, and guarantee non-repetition. Otherwise, what comes next will be devastating for this terrorist regime.
