Following my visit to the site of the moorland fire near Ripponden I recently called in to Halifax Fire Station to meet Divisional Commander Andy Rose and learn more about the work of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue across Calderdale and beyond. We have 3 fire stations in Calder Valley – Todmorden; Mytholmroyd and Rastrick. Each has specific areas of expertise such as wildfire and flooding response. A huge part of their role is reducing foreseeable risks, and they spend a lot of time working with partners such as social housing providers on community education. I was lucky enough to watch a crew training to enter a smoke-filled room wearing oxygen equipment; and learnt how they use technology to closely monitor each firefighter. Thank you to Andy and the whole team for the opportunity to visit and hear more about the incredible work firefighters do to keep us safe.

It’s time to get serious about our water system. In Yorkshire we had floods and now a hose pipe ban with rivers still full of waste. A new regulator is an important first step.

@Gizmo83508413 @almurray You've got Farnham and Bordon as Jeremy Hunt's constituency but he is contesting Godalming and Ash due to boundary changes. So G & A should be an f-yeah and F & B a "not really" as the tory there is a no-name local councillor.

@JoshFG Been a while since I bumped into you at a protest in London. Looking forward to doing so again after July. Although fingers crossed there will be less to protest about. And arguably more you can do about it. Enjoy the campaign, because then the hard work begins.

Thanks to everyone who supported me in Calder Ward. Proud of our results across Calderdale where we got some great new councillors and had other candidates coming painfully close. Labour 3,008 Conservatives 574 Green 638 Liberal Democrats 222

@JoshFG I vaguely remember an early computer system someone brought probably in a council election at some point, possibly one of my dad's elections. I think it got canned halfway through the day because no one liked it. I must have been very young, so there but not actively involved.

This is the first election i followed. Before it I remember my family being confident Labour would win and David Chaytor (👀) would be MP for Calder Valley. That is why I take absolutely nothing for granted until the votes have been counted and I’ll fight for each one.

@JoshFG And, I suppose make sure people are sent to take lifts at the right time as well. But that's just diary keeping!

@JoshFG 13. After school so someone else had got it all set up by then. But I've been around committee rooms since I was tiny, and it really isn't so hard to gather returns from number catchers, cross people off a list and work out where best to send door knockers.

@JoshFG I'm sorry for your loss. Cats really do complement parenthood. We have the most anxious, cat and we were really worried what bringing a new baby home would do to her. But she knew just how to deal with him. Gentle and loving even when he was screaming the house down.

Said goodbye to our cat Ginger today. We had her for 12 years having first got her and her brother Fred from an RSPCA shelter. Loving with us, patient with our children, calming as a companion.

@sainsburys Hi there. Had a delivery this morning which seems to be missing a bag of our frozen items. Only noticed once the driver had left. 4 or 5 items missing. Imagine it's heading back to the store on the van. Can I get a refund for those items please?

Working for a food bank campaign, I persuaded MPs in Westminster to get children fed in school holidays.
