@SaharaReporters An invitation is not a conviction, neither is it oppression. In many cases, it is simply an opportunity to clarify facts, prevent escalation, and ensure that narratives capable of disturbing public order are properly examined.
Many have been invited and gave their good testimony

@SaharaReporters Before turning every issue into a Nollywood oppression saga and every enforcement action into oppression, remember: the DSS and police are not for decoration. Security agencies are expected to assess and act accordingly when a situation has the potential to cause public unrest.

@akunnachux @sowore really turned friendship into a trending topic buffet. Imagine throwing a 20-year friendship into the social media blender just to harvest clicks, chaos, and small monetization crumbs.
Sowore is just a clown

Omoyele Sowore and his many demons
By Chuks Akunna
A drowning man will clutch at a straw, is a very old proverb. This proverb still holds true today, especially concerning one overgrown baby, who calls himself my "long-time friend." This time-tested blackmailer is none other than Cashivist Omoyele Sowore.
Like he admitted, our long-time friendship began nearly 20 years ago, precisely in December 2006, after the then-presidential domestic aide, Senator Andy Uba, appointed me as media assistant. Under the guise of seeking clarifications, Sowore would want to lure me into spilling information that would be the feedstock for his Sahara Reporters' "exclusives". Of course, I was smarter than that. After the Supreme Court fired my boss, he would occasionally call me up to help him investigate several stories. He never paid a dime for my reports. I, however, stopped writing for him circa 2012 after discovering that the reason he failed to publish at least three exclusive stories I spent time and money investigating was because the parties involved paid him off! Sowore would purport to have damaging stories on public officials. He'd blackmail them to the point they paid huge sums of money as settlement. Why do you think he decided to float a political party? People stopped falling for his blackmail, so he changed gear and began using his presidential aspiration as another "format."
When Ibrahim Magu was detained by the then EFCC chairman in an underground cell in Area 10, Abuja, I got in touch Sowore who at the time was in New York, and made him speak with Magu. Sahara Reporters' published the conversation as an exclusive! When Magu became EFCC chairman, Sowore would often call, asking me if "my man" had forgotten all he did for him. If course, I never passed such silly messages to Mr. Magu. He is alive and can testify to this.
On other occasions, he would call and spend hours on the telephone. Whenever I drew attention to his libelous style of writing, he would retort, "I be activist, I no be journalist like una."
Now, to the photograph in question. I was at the Federal High Court last Friday in solidarity with a man I thought was my friend, his excesses notwithstanding. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, I missed several Whatsapp calls from a number I wasn't familiar with. When I returned the call, it turned out to be Sowore. Apparently, he didn't use his old number as I had stopped picking his nonsensical calls. He said he missed my birthday two days earlier, so called to felicitate with me. I was a bit uneasy, fully aware that he's never up to any good. When he picked, he began thus:: "Chuks, you no be better person o. After all these years of our friendship, you know say I get case for court and you no even say make you come court one day come stand with your friend." He told me the next hearing date, and I gave my word that I would be there.
Last week Friday, therefore, I found myself in court. The court didn't begin sitting early. I ran into a lawyer friend of mine and we began catching up. Sowore walked in and excitedly joined us. Apparently, my friends is an Obidient. Sowore began by running Peter Obi down. He began boasting about how he is the best presidential material. I even teased him with the idea of begining as a council chairman.
His discussion drifted to how he helped BLord, the young businessman he boasted to have helped let off VDM's hook. Without prompting, Sowore told my lawyer friend and I that BLord is, in his words, "a very poor boy" who offered him a paltry N2 million for all he did to save him from VeryDarkMan! Sowore even swore that all the cars BLord flaunts on SM are borrowed. That all he did was because Blord's dad appealed to him to help his son.

@sowore @OfficialDSSNG @officialABAT @PoliceNG Sowore, the DSS under the leadership of Tosin Ajayi remains an agency built on discipline and integrity. Your blackmail campaign only reeks of frustration after the embarrassment you displayed in court today.
So, tell Nigerians how much you are being paid to troll governments.

English

Today, I was made aware that DSS DG Tosin Ajayi is spending @officialdssng agency funds to recruit trolls, desperate to impress Tinubu @officialabat and prove his loyalty. But history is full of @OfficialDSSNG and @PoliceNG security chiefs who used their offices to prop up oppression, abuse citizens, and dehumanize Nigerians, only to end in disgrace or irrelevance.
From the era of Obasanjo to @GEJonathan and @MBuhari, we have seen @OfficialDSSNG chiefs deployed for dirty political jobs, human rights violations, intimidation, and repression.
None escaped the consequences of aligning themselves against the Nigerian people. There was former DSS DG Col. Kayode Areh (rtd), who became notorious during the Obasanjo era; eventually, his belongings were thrown out of his Lagos residence (he was recently rehabilitated with an ambassadorial appointment).
Under Umaru Yar’Adua came another, Afakriya Aduwa Gadzama, whose influence quickly faded.
Under @GEJonathan , Ita Ekpeyong faced a dramatic security crisis at his residence amid corruption allegations. Ekpeyong deployed one of the most notorious @OfficialDSSNG spokespersons, Marilyn Ogar, but we all know how it all ended.
@MBuhari came; with Yusuf Bichi. Controversy and scandal equally dogged his tenure. During his tenure, his soccer-playing son @AbbaBichi and wife lost all the wealth he had illegally acquired, they stole and frittered all, and he is today a nonentity.
Tosin Ajayi, too, will pass. Offices are temporary, power is fleeting, but the damage done against citizens in pursuit of political loyalty remains part of history’s judgment.
No amount of intimidation, troll recruitment, false prosecution, or judicial manipulation will silence resistance. Nigerians deserve a country governed by justice, freedom, accountability, and dignity—not fear.
#RevolutionNow am ready for all of them. #RevolutionNow
By the way, the guy in these photos is a long-time friend, @Chucksakunna, who DG DSS Tosin Adeola Ajayi sends to coordinate the @OfficialDSSNG court PR cases, paying him handsomely to portray DSS as a lovely patriotic agency. But @OfficialDSSNG is evil agency set up to destroy your dreams of free citizenship

English

@sowore @OfficialDSSNG The military operates within a strict chain of command and established channels for addressing grievances.
But since Justice has chosen to play lawyer and judge without ever being called to the Bar, he might as well enjoy his front-row seat in court while it lasts.
English

It is a crying shame that the lawless @officialdssng is dehumanizing a young man simply for speaking out against the maltreatment of soldiers fighting on the frontlines. Instead of addressing the terrible conditions faced by troops risking their lives.
English

@ruffydfire Justice crack the coup plotter.
This will serve as a lesson for others.
Data is cheap, but Justice is cheaper.

@daily_trust No group has the right to intimidate a matter before the court.
Let's call a spade a spade.
We all know that coup is a grave offense. Assuming he succeeded, he must have killed Tinubu by now

@SaharaReporters Funny how some groups suddenly discover the right to appeal. If SERAP believes the judgment is unfair, the courts are there for everyone. But painting every legal consequence as harassment is turning activism into a Nollywood courtroom where one side wants immunity from scrutiny.

English

The lawless @OfficialDSSNG and the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi have still not discontinued the unlawful and unjust persecution of Justice Chidiebere aka Justice Crack despite repeated promises to do so. If you’re in Abuja, it is time to get back to business on Monday.
These people have shown time and again that they only listen when the people rise to demand justice and accountability. Let’s move again on Monday against all oppressors

@SERAPNigeria In today’s episode of constitutional comedy, SERAP has upgraded itself from an NGO to the supreme overlord of the legal universe. Forget the courts, forget the law…
SERAP, the court has spoken, no matter your appeal, you are wrong. Grape it.
DSS now 101m richer

English

BREAKING: SERAP has rejected what it described as the “seriously flawed judgment” of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, in the N5.5 billion defamation lawsuit filed against the organisation by two officials of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Justice Yusuf Halilu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory today ordered SERAP to pay N100 million in damages to the DSS officials for alleged defamation. The court also directed the organisation to issue public apologies, pay N1 million in litigation costs, and a 10 percent annual post-judgment interest on the damages until fully paid.
Reacting, SERAP in a statement said, “This judgment is totally unacceptable to us. It is a travesty and a serious blow to civic space in Nigeria. It reflects a troubling pattern under the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of using defamation laws to punish legitimate criticism and suppress accountability.”
SERAP said, “We have instructed our lawyers Tayo Oyetibo, SAN and Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN to immediately appeal this judgment.”
The statement, read in part: “This case represents a textbook example of judicial harassment and a strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP), designed to intimidate civil society and deter legitimate human rights advocacy.”
“The Tinubu government is misusing both the DSS and the judicial system to target activists, journalists, and ordinary Nigerians who are peacefully exercising their fundamental human rights.”
“Rather than deploying state institutions to intimidate critics, the government should be protecting those working to expose corruption, including allegations involving the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.”
“We strongly disagree with the judgment, which fails to reflect the evidence presented before the court and disregards Nigeria’s constitutional guarantees and international human rights obligations.”
“This judgment sends a dangerous message and creates a chilling effect on freedom of expression, civic participation, and anti-corruption work.”
“Strategic lawsuits against public participation undermine the rule of law by diverting judicial processes from their proper purpose—justice—to repression.”
“Courts have a duty to prevent the misuse of legal proceedings and to safeguard the rights to freedom of expression and association.”
“The judgment raises serious concerns regarding compliance with international human rights law. Judicial authorities must ensure that defamation laws are not weaponised to silence dissent or suppress legitimate advocacy.”
“We are committed to pursuing all available legal avenues, including appeal, to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and that fundamental rights are protected. We stand resolute. We will continue to defend civic space, promote transparency, and advance accountability in Nigeria.”
“Our work —particularly in promoting transparency, challenging corruption, and addressing illicit financial flows—is carried out in the public interest and in accordance with the law.”
“The Tinubu government has continued to fail to investigate the allegations of corruption our organization raised against the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).”
“We call on Nigerian authorities to uphold their constitutional and international human rights obligations, including the duty to protect human rights defenders and ensure that security agencies operate lawfully, transparently, and accountably.”
The lawsuit arose after SERAP, on 9 September 2024, alleged that DSS officials unlawfully entered its Abuja office following the organisation’s call on President Tinubu to investigate corruption allegations in NNPCL and reverse fuel price increases.

@SaharaReporters Justice must prevail.
Congratulations to @OfficialDSSNG.
@SERAPNigeria, your staff needs more orientation.

Sixteen years have passed since we lost President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and it says a lot that, wherever you go, Nigerians still speak of him with such love and nostalgia. We lost a patriot, and I lost a dear brother.
He was a man of integrity and humility, deeply committed to peace and the well-being of everyday Nigerians. His approach to leadership continues to remind us of what true service to the nation should look like.
As we remember the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua today, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) continues to grant him a place among the righteous in Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen.

English

@SaharaReporters If those boxes are checked, it becomes harder to frame the decision as outright abuse. If they’re not, then criticism gains real weight.
Are there avenues for bail, appeal, or review? Yes. But, did his counsel apply for bail? NO
Sowore, as a lawyer, should know better.

Sowore Demands Unconditional Release Of Whistleblower ‘Justice Crack,’ Calls Detention 'Criminal Kidnapping' By Army, DSS | Sahara Reporters bit.ly/3QQ2Ri6

@InibeheEffiong @sowore What is this baby lawyer talking about?
Sowore, who disrespected a whole nation's president?
English

Do don’t disrespect @sowore, no matter the view you hold about him.
This man has not only risked his life for others, he has been consistent.
English

@sowore Sowore was detained in 2019 by DSS following court orders tied to allegations around national security and protest. That showed that courts can and do authorize DSS custody under specific legal grounds. Same court enforced his release, demonstrating checks and balances.
English

We Occupied Ministry of Justice Over Illegal Detention of Justice Crack
In a decisive response to the unjust remand of Justice Chidiebere Mark, widely known as Justice Crack, by a judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, we moved immediately to occupy the premises of the Federal Ministry of Justice, demanding urgent intervention from the Attorney General of the Federation.
The court’s decision to remand a civilian whistleblower in the custody of the Department of State Services is not only excessive but represents a dangerous abuse of judicial authority.
English

@sowore @OfficialDSSNG @Justice_Crack @Peter4Nigeria @HQNigerianArmy @vdmempire @Neo_Emmanuel070, you are still a small boy; run to your mama.
English

@sowore @OfficialDSSNG @Justice_Crack @Peter4Nigeria @HQNigerianArmy Then await the court decision if that is true.
Ordinary @vdmempire you can't face. Always hiding behind fake news.
Next celebrity box range should feature Sowore and VDM

English

Finally, lawless @OfficialDSSNG has presented @Justice_Crack to @Peter4Nigeria at their headquarters, CLAIMING THE @HQNigerianArmy has dropped him off to them and that he will be prosecuted anytime soon, we reject the prosecution of an innocent whistleblower by the lawless @OfficialDSSNG just to cover up for the @HQNigerianArmy for torturing @Justice_Crack; they want to take him to court instead of releasing him unconditionally, we reject this and tomorrow all activists must resume at the DSS Office to demand @Justice_Crack is released unconditionally!
