Here’s a moment of meditative euphoria during my off-grid expedition and research residency in the Arctic Circle; I spent five minutes submerged in 0.2c glacial melt. Feeling the unending polar sun and calving glaciers affect the temperature of the water on a daily basis by diving in. Oscillating between extremes of the body, collective and environmental bodies, states of solidity, suspension, and swell. Thinking about resilience and myth, resisting nature as metaphor, human as protagonist, presence as extraction. So grateful to the Antigua crew and the residency guides for their intrepid and dedicated leadership in this life-expanding expedition. So much to process still, but it’s good to be back 💙

Generative Art Summit Berlin Academy of Arts @AdK_Berlin Conference Day 2 July 4th – AI Art My fabulous guests at the panel about “Who is the Artist of the Future: Human and Machine”: AI artist Sougwen Chung says: “New technologies have broad applications and implications in culture, including how we experience and see ourselves and the world around us.” AI art pioneer Mario Klingemann @quasimondo trained and experimented with neural networks and deep learning long before the AI hype began. Art historian Sabine Himmelsbach completes this round as director of the HEK museum in Basel @HEK_Basel, specialized in net art and AI art, together with Simon Hembt @twobirdsDE, lawyer specialized in copyright, AI and digital media. We will look into the history of AI art, the problems arising by it, also regarding copyright, and we will talk about the question: Is AI art just a hype or the next step in the development of generative art? I am really looking forward to our talk.
