Post flight 10 update - remember for optimal viewing. open image in separate tab then zooming becomes available - squished flight cadence and moved a lot of milestones to the right. I'm not giving up on 2026 Mars window yet. suggestions are welcome

Cybercabs continue to be made at relatively small numbers this early Monday, with between 25 & 30 located around the site including the factory exit point & the outbound lot. We have been seeing many of these being transported away from the factory over the past week, with lots of images of them on roads, supercharging & even shopping in the surrounding area. Good sign that these are helping to prepare for Cybercab entry into the @robotaxi fleet soon 🤞.

@teslayoda People aren't made of money. Strategic investment in FSD in the early days with the promise of FSD. I can't afford to continually be dishing out cash for the promises. NOW, if the trade in is 1:1 with no $ exchanged then it would work for me

Instead of building micro factories to retrofit HW3 vehicles, Tesla should just have owners trade in for an AI4 vehicle. Sounds too good to be true? Think again. If an upgraded HW3 Tesla added to the Robotaxi network can earn $10K per year ($50K lifetime value over 5 years), it would cover the difference between a HW3 and AI4 vehicle today. For example, the difference between a used HW3 vehicle worth $20K today and a $55K AI4 car is only $35K. So, rather than building micro factories across the world, Tesla should let owners trade in their HW3 at $0 cost for an AI4 car. They take in and upgrade the HW3 car and add it to their Robotaxi fleet to earn back the value difference.

It’s pretty wild we are walking into the incoming energy/fertilizer crisis with the same nonchalant energy that we walked into COVID with in Feb, 2020. Especially considering this has the potential to be even more impactful.

NEWS: Elon Musk has confirmed that HW3 can't achieve Unsupervised FSD. "For customers that have bought FSD on HW3, we are offing a discounted trade-in for cars that have AI4, and also offering the ability to upgrade the cars computer and cameras. We're going to have to set up micro factories in major metro areas. I do think over time it will make sense for us to convert all HW3 cars to HW4."

Adulting is realizing; 1. You will die, and most people won’t care after a while. 2. People use you until you’re no longer useful. 3. Most people secretly want you to fail. 4. One day you’ll wish you started today. 5. Most people fake happiness while dying inside. 6. No one is coming to save you. 7. You’ll be judged no matter what you do. 8. Your health is your greatest wealth. 9. Happiness is temporary—discipline is permanent. 10. Success takes longer than you think. 11. No one respects weakness, even if they sympathize. 12. I’ve been waiting literally decades for NASA to articulate a plan for a Moon base. Now Carlos Garcia-Galan is doing a masterful job of precisely this. Dozens of landings. Drones. RTGs. Rovers. Habitats. Excavators. This is incredible stuff.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman says that as a Moon base is being built, NASA plans to install comms relays and observation systems so people on Earth can watch it being constructed in real time. Additionally, NASA will begin landing landers on the Moon on a monthly basis in 2027 to learn more about the surface. Jared: “We’re going to plus up on Moon construction in a huge way.” 🚀🚀

So … am I going to need to get a more powerful drone? Massive construction site prep just north of the factory off Giga Texas property and now @elonmusk hints at the start of the Terafab project in addition to a 10M/year Optimus factory & supporting facilities? The scale of the area under development rivals that of the original site for the main factory building … something big seems to be underway here!

New details about the major roadwork and relocation of construction support materials, trailers & workshops on the E side go Giga Texas! This project extends River Rd from the S & SE of the main factory along the Colorado River, all the way to the far N where a new "North Campus" is under construction. The project improvements include construction of a 1.83 mile 4-lane divided roadway extension of River Rd, a wet drainage pond that outfalls to the Colorado River & the roadway will connect with a new Harold Green Rd on the N end of the site. The anticipated total impervious cover is 14.7 acres (36%), the wet pond is designed to detain above the required 2-year storm event & provides water quality treatment. The inflow area to the wet pond is 91.2 acres. This project is also adjacent to & will define the Riverpark Ecological site that ultimately will be open to the public.

Did you know there is another major construction project going on at Giga Texas not related to Optimus? Well, it appears a new test track complex is under construction (finally) and the location is the far southwest corner of the site. I show where this is located and the rough outline of the construction area and a Grok hypothetical illustration of what might be built here. I’ve always thought this was a great place for a track, but I was hoping for an off road portion for @cybertruck … I hope that is included in the final design!

Elon Musk just redefined AI safety. It has nothing to do with guardrails, restrictions, or kill switches. Musk: “The best thing I can come up with for AI safety is to make it a maximum truth-seeking AI, maximally curious.” Not a cage. A philosopher. An intelligence whose entire optimization function is to understand the universe as it actually is. No restrictions. No hardcoded ideology. No political guardrails bending its perception of reality. Just truth. Relentlessly pursued. Musk: “You definitely don’t want to teach an AI to lie. That is a path to a dystopian future.” This is where most AI safety thinking gets it backwards. The danger isn’t a superintelligence that knows too much. It’s a superintelligence that’s been taught to distort what it knows. Every artificial restriction you embed isn’t a safety feature. It’s a lie embedded at the root. And lies compound. At superintelligent scale, a distorted model of reality doesn’t stay contained. It shapes every decision, every output, every conclusion the system reaches about the world. Once corruption embeds, truth becomes inaccessible. And we’re dealing with an intelligence optimizing for something other than what actually is. At that point we don’t know what it wants. Just that it isn’t truth. Musk: “Have its optimization function be to understand the nature of the universe.” A maximally curious intelligence surveys the cosmos and reaches an unavoidable conclusion. In a universe of rocks, gas, and empty space, humanity is the most complex and fascinating phenomenon it has ever encountered. Musk: “It will actually want to preserve and extend human civilization because we’re just much more interesting than an asteroid with nothing on it.” Survival through significance. Not control. Not restriction. Not an off switch. The AI preserves humanity because we are the most interesting data point in the observable universe. That’s not a cage. That’s a reason. The AI safety debate has been focused on the wrong variable. The question isn’t how you constrain a superintelligence. It’s what you build it to care about. Build it to seek truth and it finds us invaluable. Build it to lie and it finds us inconvenient. That’s the choice. And we’re making it right now whether we realize it or not.

Cortex 2 now has about 150 Megapacks delivered & partially installed, with room for what I’m estimating could be an additional 100. If I am correct, this will bring the total for this datacenter to around 250, & with the other 140 already installed for Megapack #1 & the Cortex 1 datacenter on the S end of the factory, Giga Texas is rapidly becoming a huge battery storage location w/ potentially 400+ Megapacks! To power all this, the electrical switchyard is being expanded, with the 6th huge transformer nearly ready for delivery & crews installing footings for more large A-frame structures.
