🚲📦 DC is piloting a new, greener way to deliver packages! DDOT and Amazon have launched a 10-month e-cargo bike delivery pilot in the District, with up to 15 battery-powered cargo bikes making neighborhood deliveries from a new Southwest DC microhub. The initiative aims to reduce traffic, noise, and emissions while testing innovative last-mile delivery solutions that work better for city streets. The pilot will help shape the future of urban freight and safer, more efficient deliveries across DC. 🌱 For more info visit: freight.ddot.dc.gov/pages/microfre…

Zachary Baldwin, director of mobility, data, and research for the Southwest Business Improvement District, said the project is “forward thinking in a way that we appreciate, because it applies a sharing economy mindset to a real problem: How do you deliver efficiently on an e-bike when your battery runs out? It’s a sustainable project, because it helps move people and importantly, things, without cars.” wtop.com/dc/2026/04/why…

🚦 Safer streets through smarter solutions. Through the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the M Street Road Safety Technology Reverse Pitch and Pilot in Washington, DC, is bringing together the public and private sectors to tackle real safety challenges along one of the city’s busiest corridors in Navy Yard. From pedestrian and cyclist safety to event-related congestion, this initiative focuses on finding tech-driven solutions that can make an immediate impact. Using a “reverse pitch” model, agencies are defining the problems—and inviting companies to bring forward ideas that can be tested in a live, real-world environment. 📅 Deadline to apply: April 18, 2026 👍 Selected teams will have the opportunity to pilot their solutions on M Street this summer. 👉 Learn more: dcmid.io/call-for-proje…

This week, we attended the Green Transition Initiative Summit, hosted by the Swedish Green Transition Initiative. During the event, we led a walking tour of The Stacks with The Wharf and partnered with Emeka Moneme from the Capitol Riverfront BID for a mobility roundtable, which we were grateful to be a part of. We also helped connect DDOT, DOEE, DCST, and the BID Council to the summit and look forward to continuing conversations that emerged from it. It was an excellent opportunity to connect with partners advancing sustainable innovation in DC and beyond.

🚌⚡ Since our launch in 2022, we at the DC MID have been piloting a community-focused, equitable mobility solution with @ride_circuit. Through a competitive selection process, we chose Circuit for its all-electric fleet, adaptability, and commitment to our community. Since then, we've learned: ✅ 400+ RideWell enrollees took 17,000 free rides ✅ 38% of trips were for grocery access ✅ 63 local jobs created ✅ 44 tons of CO₂ emissions prevented Our pilot shows how problem-driven innovation can bridge transportation gaps while advancing equity, sustainability, and opportunity for DC residents. The DC MID is supported through a grant from @DMPEDDC, whose partnership and investment we gratefully acknowledge. 📄 Read our full report! dcmid.io/s/Circuit-Repo…

Big mobility and economic news in SW! We're excited to support @DDOTDC's new pilot, which utilizes e-bikes for delivery drivers — reducing emissions, alleviating congestion, and offering workers a low-cost path to e-bike ownership. "This pilot is a game-changer for sustainable urban delivery - proving that e-bikes can slash emissions, ease congestion, and empower workers, all while keeping DC moving forward. It's exactly the kind of innovation that cities need to tackle climate goals head-on," said Mitch LaRosa, Director of the DC Mobility Innovation District (MID). wusa9.com/article/tech/s…
