@granthpaulsen I’d say. Hard to buy that all the $ in college sports is somehow bad for the coaching fraternity
English

This looks like Mike Dexter & the dude who comes from college to go to the party in "Can't Hardly Wait"
Spencer Nusbaum@spencernusbaum_
Nats new leadership.
English

@Brady_A_W @granthpaulsen To me, the main thing that “analytics” fails to account for is the value of competing & winning. That Nats jersey meant something for a decade. Something real that manifested on the field. You can choose to let that go because of $$ but you should be eyes open about that cost
English

@Brady_A_W @granthpaulsen That’s probably a fair and accurate assessment, if we even agree you can press some buttons to upgrade player dev that takes awhile and in the meantime you’ve squandered winning culture which is another important leg of the stool in sports
English

The Nationals’ new pitching coach worked at Driveline Baseball early in his coaching career. Comes over from the Reds.
They’ve got a 35 year old President of baseball, a 33 year old skipper and a 30 year old pitching coach. Sign me up.

@itsnagol1 @granthpaulsen There’s certainly plenty of fuck it, that’s for sure
English

@DC_DunSun @granthpaulsen I think it's a fuck it we try something new thing
English

@yslchi @granthpaulsen Let’s be honest, the Nats biggest problem is their clear unwillingness to assemble a big league roster by giving any player more than a 2 year deal. Modernize away in the meantime
English

@DC_DunSun @granthpaulsen The Nats biggest problem was all of their development tools were out of date. We were literally like the only team in baseball without up to date pitching tech. Modernizing the Nats is huge in our potential future success.
English

@Brady_A_W @granthpaulsen What hasn’t worked the last few years is trotting out a woefully inadequate roster and wallowing in the losing-begets-losing clubhouse of a bad team. All for “modernizing” but let’s be real about how many wins nibbling at the margins are worth. More “wait & see” than “sign me up”
English

@DC_DunSun @granthpaulsen Because to me, with the backgrounds of the new guys they’re hiring, it signals that they’re actually trying to modernize their coaching and player development instead of continuing to do the same things the old regime did which clearly haven’t worked in the last few years

Keibert Ruiz had been on Rizzo's radar for a long time. We wanted Will Smith in the draft and that didn't happen. The Dodgers weren't trading him. Look what @keithlaw had to say about Ruiz back then. This is timestamped during Spring Training 2020. But the biggest caution flag was on his defense and then an agent told us that is pitcher in the Dodgers' system didn't like him as their catcher.
Who vetted this trade?

English

@SouthwestAir There’s no way I’m getting back on that plane or any @SouthwestAir anytime soon
English

@SouthwestAir Well flight 2748 went from bad to absurdly worse. Where to start? The failed landing at DCA and diversion to BWI? The pilot telling a whole plane he was at the end of a 13 hour shift and is done? The complete lack of any info or organization at BWI for passengers ?
English

After an already insane travel day with 6 hour delay at MDW @SouthwestAir flight 2748 to DCA now been just sitting at gate for an hour saying we’re waiting for a couple bags??
English

@MarkZuckerman Why is a guy being passed on earlier if he’s then worth 3x his slot value? This is what I don’t get
English

MLB's slot value for the Nationals' 4th round draft pick was only $687,800. Assuming No. 1 pick Eli Willits is signing for below-slot value ($11,075,900), they would be able to allocate some of the difference toward Miguel Sime's bonus.
Jon Heyman@JonHeyman
Miguel Sime Jr. signs with Nats for $2M. Sime, a righthander pitcher, is from Queens and attended Poly Prep in Brooklyn and was NY’s No. 1 rated draft prospect. He was picked in the 4th round.
English

@granthpaulsen Furthermore show me a non-Boras extension we’ve gotten done that mattered during this time. Trea, Schwarbs being the best examples of all stars that would’ve carried great value at the prices we could’ve got them
English

@granthpaulsen I guess you might find an exception but when I scroll down his client list I see a lot of happy faces. My point is we can act like Boras is the problem if it makes us feel better but the biggest problem is when the Nats look in the mirror
