The prevailing theme from Yzerman today, in his words: "We need to change some things, but we're not gonna just go and get rid of everyone. There's gotta be some very blunt conversations with some of our players, and challenge them to do more and be better."

@MegRemSoftball As someone who was a catcher all through high school, when you are trying to make a play in the field, the batter all but disappears. This was an accident.

There is a right way to play this game and a wrong way and this is 100% in the wrong. I don’t care that the batter moved back out of the box- you don’t intentionally step back to throw at her head, as hard as you can, from about a foot away. I don’t want to hear “you don’t know it wasn’t intentional.” Save it. The runner at 3rd is about a half step off 3rd. The way the catcher is positioned to throw, that throw is going towards the 3rd base fence. The most telling part though? No one checks on that batter and catcher gets a high five right after from her coach. The batter ended up with a concussion. This is completely unacceptable and has no place in this sport.

BREAKING: Trump throws the McDonald's DoorDash grandma under the bus after the mocking backlash, says that the entire stunt was "tacky" and "did not happen" for real. Everyone gets burned by the MAGA mafia boss in the end... "Earlier this week at the White House, I met a wonderful woman named Sharon Simmons, a grandmother driving DoorDash to help support her husband's cancer treatment," Trump said at an event in Las Vegas, reading from prepared remarks. "He's got serious cancer, he going to be okay, I think. Sharon delivered McDonald's to the Oval Office." The PR stunt in question was a pathetic attempt to flog the section of his "big, beautiful bill" that allows some workers to deduct a portion of tipped income from their taxes. It quickly went off the rails for Trump, as Simmons refused to endorse his transphobic remarks on camera. "It was a little bit of a, you know, I mean, to be honest, it was a little tacky," Trump said of the event, looking up from his notes. "You know, they come up with these crazy ideas like McDonald's, although that was the biggest ever on Google, they say. Number one ever and the, uh, garbage truck. I mean, we do these things in politics..." "They're a little embarrassing," Trump continued. "They're a little tiny embarrassing, but we do them and you win by landslides. You know, it's one of the... So we got to keep doing— No, we got to knock on the Oval Office door. This did not happen." "That's the first maybe in the history of the Oval Office. And it was a very beautiful woman standing there with two big bags of McDonald's hamburgers," he went on. "And I say, is this really believable? But the point of it was she made $11,000 that she had no idea was coming. And it was really great. It turned out to be really great." By admitting that the entire thing was staged, Trump has exposed Simmons as a willing political pawn of his fascist agenda. Not only that, but his admission that it was tacky makes her look tacky and buffoonish by extension. More interesting than Trump's admission that the event was totally fake is what that admission reveals about his political beliefs. Trump thinks that his voters are stupid, gullible, and easily manipulated by the most transparent, bargain bin, low IQ messaging. He has nothing but disdain for this kind of political theater, but he knows that it plays well with the rubes who make up his base. As for Trump's desperate new push to highlight the "no tax on tips" segment of his historically disastrous bill, it simply will not be enough to salvage his electoral prospects. Americans know that the real goal of the bill was to gut the social safety net, including roughly $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid. The midterms are coming and with them, a massive blue wave! Please ❤️ and share if you think that Trump has no respect for his own supporters!

@GudTroubl2 @BlueGeorgia That’s 1700 cases in only 2026, 4 months! You’re not counting the approx. 675% increase in measles cases in 2025 compared to 2024, with cases ballooning to over 2,000 in 2025.

Mike Thompson: Under four years of President Biden, there were 514 measles cases in the US. Under just one year of President Trump, there are nearly 2300 cases. Kids have died under your watch, in large part because President Trump allowed your conspiracy theories to run our public health.

Is it time for the Detroit Red Wings and Dylan Larkin to part ways? What does this team need to do to become a Stanley Cup contender? Boo birds were raining down in LCA as the Wings season crumbled in the third period. #LGRW 🔗⬇️

@JimCosta_ Tough, most on Larkin. He played his ass off all year and I will give him credit. Lot of the C talk and not being a good leader is a lot of white noise. At some point, the talent has to be there and aside from maybe 2-3 of them, the rest are bottom 6 forwards & AHL lifers. Awful

@GooseLooneyDet @riger1984 I defend him because I can see what he has done, the young talent that he has brought in, and what is coming. Yes, I agree he needs to be better on the depth, and choosing right players for this team, but with the new Salary cap, it will be hard to just sign guys. Like the past

Players gathered at center-ice as the crowd loudly boos after the Wings blew a 3rd period lead and were eliminated from the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season is one hell of a way to honor 100 years of Detroit Red Wings Hockey Embarrassing.

In reality he had a hard time scoring a goal with an empty net on a breakaway and was one of the worst color announcers I’ve ever heard. Not only couldn’t he speak without saying uh every two seconds he was a total slapdick buffoon for the organization. Especially the years that Holland was careening the franchise into the abyss. Good riddance.

One of the very best men I've ever known. A Kris Draper 1.0 type player. Former Red Wings captain. Admired and respected by OPPPNENTS around the league. He was a huge part of my NHL education. Grateful for all the time we shared. We were lucky to have him all these years. #LGRW

@Section344Lions 10 years. Now it’s time for big moves. 10 years of “right moves” has watch a lot of wings move on to be top players on other contenting teams. It’s a culture problem inside the building. Fixing culture requires big adjustments and a new identity for the team.

I’m not criticizing Steve Yzerman for trading a 1st-round pick for a good player. It was something he probably needed to do & any criticism is all in hindsight of the team missing the playoffs. However — It is a millionth example that shows, despite how much fans claim otherwise, that a big splash type move isn’t a requirement & just as many times as not if not more comes back to bite you in the ass. You need the right moves. Not the biggest ones.

@Section344Lions Are you implying it was a big splash move? It was a middling move. A splash move would've been getting Quinn Hughes, which he should've.

🚨 JUST IN: President Trump confirms the judge is WRONG and he does not need congressional approval to build his White House ball room “In the Ballroom case, the Judge said we have to get Congressional approval. He is WRONG! Congressional approval has never been given on anything, in these circumstances, big or small, having to do with construction at the White House. In this case, even less so, because the Ballroom is being built with Private Donations, no Federal Taxpayer Money!“
