On International Women's Day, you will see many Pakistani sports orgs, athletes NGO's etc post messages. When you look at women's sports in Pakistan, its an embarrassing situation. So many Pakistani National Women's Teams haven't played for years, there are no proper academies, leagues or pathways. So much of women's sports is treated as a tick box exercise just keep the funds coming in. So many athletes helped lay foundations for various women's national teams but now those teams are just dormant. Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball etc haven't played in years. Football team played 1 event last year and now will play again after 9 months. Cricket team remains the only WNT active with full media, corporate sector support and on a good day at home it gets few hundred fans watching it. Women's sports needs to be taken seriously.
