Qureate CEO Yuji Usuda, head of the Japanese game company Qureate, recently explained why the studio’s “gentlemen’s games” almost always feature busty female characters. In a interview with Game*Spark, Usuda said that portraying adult women with small or flat chests has become “highly risky” because platforms and reviewers may misinterpret petite body types as underage characters. Even clearly adult characters can create problems for releases on platforms like Steam or Nintendo Switch. He said the studio would like to include more body variety, but avoiding release issues has become a priority. “If we took on risky depictions and ended up blocked from releasing the game at all, it would be pointless,” he explained. Usuda also mentioned that Qureate already has to make platform-specific changes to avoid censorship. In Bunny Garden, for example, facial “lotion” was changed to green slime and milk effects were made invisible in some versions.

@Pirat_Nation I'd imagine many people, non-cheaters, are now thinking: "I will not play any Riot game ever again. They have publicly crossed a line and I am now afraid they might do this to me for some arbitrary reason, or by mistake, and I don't want to risk bricking my PC".

The Riot Vanguard anti-cheat system used in Valorant is “trolling” hackers. It recently received an update that blocks many hardware cheating devices. These devices connect through SATA and NVMe drives to bypass anti-cheat detection. The update can completely lock some of these devices, and many users say the only way to fix the problem is by reinstalling Windows. Cheaters are also seeing a red ban screen that moves across the display and sometimes causes visual glitches. I don't like cheaters, but if they are bricking PCs, it is illegal.

Aye, and what's funny (from what's been happening like with Paypal), payment processors are going into and implementing these new types tech of currencies, we'd be able to take advantage of them, and for us what we've figured out is a way to do it without them having the ability to freeze or blacklist a users' main address to receive payments on (will be testing this out in the discord-alt we'll be releasing soon which is also a new experimental platform to fix the discord problem).

@DEGMods @ChibiReviews you'll have to be able to attract japanese creators and audience while being outside japan or you'll be crushed by the law. traditional payments will only work for a short time before being kicked off, crypto is the only reliable method

Whatever one wants to build, for a quick look up / research, look into: Nostr Blossom (related to nostr) That's the core/heart of the tech to look into to achieve censorship-resistant and permissionless results. For those serious about building anything with this, and wants to get our thoughts on anything around this, DMs are open. (We probably won't be helping out with development though, our capacity at the moment is more than full)

Regarding the mod (or two i think) you're mentioning: DEG Mods hasn't made any legal reports of a mod post with fictional content, nor have we deleted mod posts properly nor accounts (actions that factually cannot happen). The featured image seen on the mod has been taken down and tampered with by the image host that it was uploaded to, this includes the screenshots as well, and that message was from the image host, not DEG Mods. You can see a little 'modified' tag on images, that means that the media host has modified the file. The mod file(s) wasn't deleted by DEG Mods because it wasn't uploaded in the first place to servers that we control, the mod publisher has uploaded the mod file to an independent server, unrelated to DEG Mods or its current infrastructure/protocol-network, where later that server owner has deleted the file, and the mod publisher has not updated the mod post to include a new link to the file. DEG Mods, as a matter of fact, from launch, has not directly censored (deleted) any fictional mod post to date (and can't properly do it). And if you notice, there are other mods that are similar, if not more "problematic" in the public's eye, from most/all ideologies/sides, that are accessible through DEG Mods still. Someone can go to DEG Mods right now and republish that mod (and maintain it, that's key) with no issues like what's seen from happening. Hopefully that clears things up.

@DEGMods @ChibiReviews Your website reports the same kind of content as "illegal" and blocks it from view. You can't be both for and against it.

IMPORTANT NEWS: Japanese Fantia creators need to censor new and past works or face dire penalties. One of them is the authorities getting notified. For those unaware of Fantia as a site, its similar to Patreon for artists to post their work and get paid for It was announced on May 19, so they've only got the remaining 5 days to revise their past works ・Requests to revise the relevant content, immediate takedown, or deletion ・Freezing or closure of the fan club if no improvements are made ・Disclosure and reporting of log information to police or other relevant authorities if serious legal violations are suspected The latest change is causing many artists to just delete all their old works just to be safe At this time its unknown fully why this is happening from what I can gather. I'll be following this situation The only thing we do know is that Article 175 of the Penal Code is involved in it. However in the recent years a d especially in the last few months. Banks and Payment Processors have been getting involved with declining lawful payments to Japanese Creators. Even though we don't know if this is then causing this, its very suspicious its happening to Japanese art again.

@masahiroitosugi Sucks that happened to you, hopefully you had backups or was able to retrieve your files back somehow. With that said, to avoid having this situation from happening to you (and others) again, look into self-hosting (be your own 'cloud storage')

Hopefully the more this happens, the more people will self-host and be their own "cloud storage" (it's easy nowadays / been easy, and getting easier), and not just use another service that'll eventually screw them again. Another solution is what we'll eventually build, but it'll be a while until we get to it (and build up its service providers and users): decentralized storage with economic system behind it to increase its availability and redundancy (keep the system/network healthy and growing).

Will be testing out a way for paypal users to send to creators paypal's own stable currency (PYUSD) that they've introduced themselves, in such a way where it would not risk the creator's paypal account, and paypal wouldn't be able to properly stop it (unless they shutdown their own currency). Assuming all goes well, I'll be testing it out in the upcoming discord-alt in the donation page and see how viable this solution is. If things does work out, it'll just require creators a little bit of learning, and have a little bit of friction.

Payment processors are increasingly restricting adult content creators. PayPal has started issuing permanent account limitations to artists who accept payments for lewd or adult-themed commissions, citing policy violations and unusual activity. This follows Stripe’s recent move to block lewd projects on Kickstarter. Private companies are enforcing stricter content rules that go beyond legal requirements. Many independent creators are forced to find alternatives like crypto.

Considering what paypal have implemented and trying to normalize (their own currency called PYUSD), and considering what we've thought of and will implement in our platforms, creators, who choose to learn/adapt and handle a little bit of friction, will still be able to use paypal without having their account touch their work that paypal disapproves of, and paypal can't do much about it (they wouldn't be able to freeze a creator's address because they wouldn't be able to identify 'them') unless they want to shutdown their new stable currency. I'll be trying it out in the discord-alt (when it gets released, soon) in the donation page to see how viable/effective it is.

Paypal is SHUTTING DOWN COMISSIONS. No more lewd commissions. Multiple reports of artists getting notices like these. This follows on the heel of Kickstarter saying Stripe is shutting down lewd kickstarters too. It's out of their control.

@Pirat_Nation supposedly *supposedly rolled out end-to-end encryption Because it's closed-source, nobody knows if their statement is true (if its secure, if there's no backdoor, etc)

Discord has rolled out end-to-end encryption for voice and video calls It is turned on by default for every user so only the people in the call can hear and see what is said because Discord cannot listen in or watch the It works for direct messages, group messages, voice channels, and Go Live streams but not stage channels yet

@gelbooru On the technical side, it's being fixed, with censorship-resistance and permissionless benefits, one project at a time, reducing that fear and overtime to near zero.

Artists are no closer than they were 15 years ago, to being able to display their works without fear of private industry censorship. The US internet needs Section 230 protections and Net Neutrality legislation to survive whatever is coming...

A small Japanese game maker called Mousou no Mayu cannot receive money from Steam for the all-ages version of their game Hustle Battle Card Gamers. The bank Daishi Hokuetsu Bank stopped payments from other countries after reviewing the anime-style pictures and claiming some characters look like children, even though the game has no adult content. The bank also warned it may block funds from Japanese sites like DLsite and FANZA but gave the game maker a short grace period, so the maker now plans to change banks. This is happening more often with Japanese banks and small game makers as banks block payments based on their own views of game content.

@ChibiReviews Hopefully the tech we've built/building would be helpful to them and others, when it can be practically helpful, so that they don't need to worry about an authority taking down their business. Decentralized and censorship-resistant domains, servers, clients, payments, etc.

@Raya33276481 @ChibiReviews This Made a solution to the ICANN-DNS problem (some1 else is working on the ICANN-IANA problem), & the goal is to have that solution working on existing browsers like Brave by default (no recuring payment, cheap, cenosrship-resistant/permissionless, u get a whole TLD)

@AmazonessKing3 Thanks. Though in this one's case, there'd be a lot less of our involvement in terms of applying moderation (much less so than deg mods, if not non existant). Basically: See something bad? Block it yourself, and people that follow you would benefit from your efforts.

Discord is down for thousands of users right now. A lot of people are having trouble logging in, sending messages, and using the app. The team says they're already working on fixing the issue.
