I've known students who did not regard themselves as smart. They had learning differences. They were in wealthy school districts with plenty of resources and therapists and special education support. They were literally suicidal because they felt like failures every single day. They transferred to my school. We let them do math at their own pace. If they needed a year off from math to recover, fine. Meanwhile they were excellent at animation or video production or some other creative skill. They became rock stars at that. The transformation from failure to flourishing happened in months.

Catholics read the Bible under the guidance of the ancient Church that wrote, compiled, and preserved Scripture. That is why Catholics are led to the fullness of truth in Christ’s Church. Protestants, on the other hand, read the Bible under the supreme authority of their own interpretation, selectively accepting what the Church produced and preserved. The result is distortion and endless fragmentation. Christ established a Church with authority to teach. He did not establish a book with millions of self-appointed interpreters claiming that authority for themselves. The Church leads to Christ. Protestantism leads to self.

@jofromcoastalFL @ModestTeacher The fact that the US was never #1 in education makes the claim bs. It’s a right wing talking point that has been repeated so much that people believe it. Of course I want the US education system to be better! It’s my life’s work! Spreading misinformation doesn’t help, though.

I get really tired of the subtle disdain that homeschool parents have for public school families. My kids go to public school and WE have simultaneously raised them into terrific kids and young adults. Homeschool your kids, I don’t care, but it doesn’t make you better than me

Cite one reputable source that says that the US was ever tops in education, please. At the least, stop reposting bullshit you read online.

And if we're going to go down the I'm more educated than you path of arrogance I have a BS inEconomics from an Ivy, a BS in Finance from an even better non Ivy and an MBA, all earned Summa or Magna. If you're well educated u know you don't trust you verify.

@jimiuorio Let's suppose one of the walk out students gets hit by a car or injured somehow during this protest. Is the school liable for encouraging the absence? Is it the student's fault? The parent's expectation is that their student is in a classroom studying/learning (ha!).

If a public school allowed my 14 year old to “walk out” to protest anything that I didn’t 100% approve of in writing, we’d have a big issue…

@CrusaderPatriot @Matt_Pinner They were on THE MOON. Of course they could plant an angled camera. I forgot if the camera tracked the LEM or if it was a static shot…but I’m pretty sure filming leaving the moon wasn’t a particularly difficult task….compared to the rest of the endeavor.

@GjofFreyr @Grunt2A Your claim is that modern punk bands support the government. While there are always exceptions, in general, I call bullshit on your claim. My friends and I have strong political opinions, but NONE of us shill for a political party or the government.

You need to talk to some punks. They think because the Democrats are leftists that they're gonna save them. Meanwhile the Democrats are robbing everyone blind. Go look at they way punk artists post during Democrat controlled times in Democrat controlled areas. There are not the scathing critiques we would expect. And many are now on record being against liberal ideals (which is what punk is based on; individual liberty).

My oldest kid just filed her first tax returns ever for her after school job.... She also just learned that you can't get Social Security withholding back She is SCREAMING MAD at the government and how she has taxation without representation (as a minor) And this is just for state taxes! She is below the federal minimum and owes nothing to Uncle Sam. I made sure to point out all the things her taxes she doesn't get back pay for like the botched road project in town that made traffic worse 😁 It is glorious to see the next generation angry at the government 😀 This tax return just created a new fiscal conservative for life. And, as an added bonus, she now hates her unemployed high school classmates who say why taxes they don't pay should be higher to pay for more social programs It is a proud day 😀

@GjofFreyr @Grunt2A Yup, punk rock is primarily a left leaning movement, but there are certainly exceptions. The claim was that punk bands support the government. The current president and Senate are republican. The Supreme Courts has a conservative majority. Doubt too many punks are pro gov.

@DFTrouble @Grunt2A Go look at all the local punk related postings from bands across the U.S. on Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok. It's like 99% support for Democrats 😂

I also went to public schools until college. My brother, friends, and I had positive experiences. They are not all like what you experienced/think.

@DFTrouble @BowtiedQueenBee @ModestTeacher I'm actually in Russia, but I was schooled in the USA. My mother did so under duress. She didn't have much choice. She knew how bad it was. After I moved out my father went to prison for sexually abusing students. So no, he actually did worse. Keep your kids away from public ed.
