Becky Hammon questioned Jalen Brunson’s ability to be a 1A, and then she specifically named Giannis, Embiid, and Steph as examples of 1A’s. She is correct. Brunson is not Giannis, Embiid, or Steph. But the NBA has massively changed since she made that take 3 years ago. You don’t need a 1A to win a ring anymore. A deep, well coached roster that compliments itself and is led by an elite player (Brunson, Haliburton, Ant, etc.) can win a ring nowadays. As a matter fact, I’d actually argue deep rosters led by a secondary star is better than the top heavy teams led by the 1A’s.

The Thunder used 29 unique lineups in non-garbage time in game 3. No single lineup played for more than 4:45 in the whole game. The max number of possessions for any lineup was 10. Haven’t seen this anywhere else but it just boggles the mind honestly. Credit @NateDuncanNBA
