I'm absolutely fuming. Some reckless driver has knocked and killed our cat. Just left poor Pakora in the middle of the road. Thankfully our neighbours came out and looked after him in his final moments. Fuck sake.

Not that long ago I'd think nothing of getting in the car and driving long distances but age is catching up with me not to mention the price of petrol. But thank you for the invitation.

@Jan_Leeming Oh I'm sorry to hear that Jan. Well, the offer stands: we are in the lovely city of Wolverhampton so let me know if you change your mind.

I’ve been teaching for over 20 years and I’ve never met an educator who doesn’t want the very best for the children. Maybe it’s not more difficult than other jobs. Maybe other jobs are just as challenging. But my goodness, these people really care. Educators unite ❤️

Teachers make around 1,500 decisions a day. In a 10 hour day thats 150 decisions an hour. That’s a decision to make every 24 seconds. Nearly 300,000 decisions in 39 weeks of teaching. Such a mentally demanding job. Too many holidays, yeah right!

One good GCSE exam and son now thinks he’s the bard himself. “Shakespeare’s so easy. You just describe something in a nonsense way. Like, see that can of Monster? That’s jealousy. That door? Ambition. That fat pug? Loyalty.”

@llewelyn20 To be honest when I went in this week it was very relaxed, one class in the hall doing their exam, access arrangements in one classroom, rest of the school running as normal. Ofsted could have been there no problem. Not sure the HT would agree, but still.

If Ofsted are looking for a true understanding of a school, and want to allow leaders to present the school as honestly as possible, why on earth would you inspect in sats week (or indeed the last week of any term). Madness.

How do we stop students listening to nonsense advice from TikTok about exams. In some cases they are paying for this ridiculousness. Lots of use this word and you’ll get a 9. I’ve marked English Language papers, that’s not how it works. I’ve told students. I’ve shown examiners’

Supermarket self-checkouts don't rile me. But why do people scan the items from the basket & then put them in the bagging area and once finished put the items from the bagging area into a bag?!?!? Open you bags. Place in the bagging area. After scanning put straight into bag.

There’s nothing “culturally relevant” about this book, yet my students are spellbound by it. They know (and appreciate) a good story when they hear it, and this is one of the best. Read great books to and with children!

Four of my year 7s came into class this afternoon with ripped blazers, and one even had his shirt pocket nearly ripped off - the result of over-enthusiastic lunchtime football. It's good that they're playing sport at break, and frankly it's silly they have to do it in suits.

Today, I’m voting according to my conscience, not strategically. To me democracy means voting for the party that most closely represents my values and priorities. If I vote tactically (which I’ve done before), I’m trying to stop someone else’s vote count. #democracy
