Let’s pause and think about what actually happens during a colonoscopy. You’re sedated. A flexible tube with a small camera is inserted into the colon so physicians can examine the lining and remove abnormal growths at the discretion of the doctor. That lesion may become cancerous in 15-20 years or it may never become cancer. In the meantime, poking a little too hard with the instruments can make a hole, leaking fecal matter into your abdominal cavity. So you could end up with emergency surgery for a possible lesion that could possibly become cancerous someday. Now, instead of reacting emotionally or projecting the program you’ve been given, step back and think logically. Does this sound like a good idea? When a procedure can lead to death or permanent damage, don’t you think it’s time to rethink our approach?

@DrJesseMorse @jointdocShields We call it ex-fix. External fixator, not xternal. Principles are to place your pins outside the zone of injury and future surgery. Her fracture could be plateau, could be shaft. Placement in her posted images reflects that. Injury you posted does not fit with her mechanism.

Lindsey Vonn When she said she would need multiple surgeries she wasn’t kidding. She just completed her 3rd. When I say this was a ‘bad’ fracture I wasn’t kidding. This is called an external fixator (‘x-fix’) and is being used to help stabilize the fractured tibia (and maybe more). When I show this x-ray, it’s not hers but now you get an idea of what she’s dealing with. Best of luck to her.

Unhealthy life style maintains inflammatory pain. She needs a revision of life style in order to avoid revision of HTO/Uni/TKA. I would recommend a trial of GLP-1 analog if everything else has failed.

@jointdocShields Not to mention when you have a delamination of liner from cup. Catastrophic. I just don’t get what we are aiming for with resurfacing. THA is so good.

But why? Hip resurfacing to me feels like a scam. It is marketed as “bone preserving” but the cup size needs to match the femoral head so typically you end up putting a larger cup than you would have with a THA - so you are losing acetab bone stock. Hard pass
