More than 50 authors have boycotted next month’s Adelaide Writers’ Week after the board cancelled a festival event featuring prominent Palestinian-Australian author and activist Randa Abdel-Fattah. The lawyer was scheduled to talk about her new novel, Discipline, which is a fictional novel focusing on the lives of two Muslim girls. Adelaide Festival is now facing accusations of racism after releasing a statement saying it would "not be culturally sensitive to continue to program Abdel-Fattah at this unprecedented time so soon” after the Bondi Beach terror attack.
