Laparoscopic or robotic retrieval and extraction through the iliac fossa, with ipsilateral implant. Sometimes it might pay off to retrieve the gonadal vein with the kidney to have some “spare parts”

Nice debate on advanced #laparoscopic #PD catheter insertion versus #percutaneous technique with Elaine Bowes #ispdeuropd2021. There should not be many technical contraindications for PD and more #dedicated surgeons are needed!

How to deal w 2 donor renal arteries (Fig1)? @SonsolesLTHT taught me trousered arterioplasty (Fig2). Did same again last wk (Fig3). Did it to 2 equal sized renal veins with @falconerstuart this wk (Fig4). Fantastic to now have these skills. Awesome experience @LTHkidneys.

But I really love doing reconstructions. Think that it gives you lots of options and I’d rather extend the CIT with an additional hour for the reconstructions instead of prolonging the WIT with individual anastomosis or tying off substantial branches ;)
