#sapsHQ The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane commends the extraordinary bravery and selflessness displayed by Captain Johan "Pottie" Potgieter, whose actions are an example of the highest standards of service and dedication. In a highly dangerous and complex operation along the Komati River, Captain Potgieter was hoisted from a SANPARKS helicopter into a crocodile-infested river, where he courageously secured a crocodile using a rope under extremely dangerous conditions. The animal which was already euthanized was then safely lifted and relocated, enabling the police and other experts to recover the remains of a suspected missing person. The discovery of the remains means that the police have now taken the body parts found in the intestines of the crocodile for DNA analysis to confirm the identity of the deceased. Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane has praised the Captain for his bravery. #ServiceExcellence ML saps.gov.za/newsroom/msspe…

#sapsKZN [HAPPENING TODAY] The delegation and attendees made their way to the third and last location at the Maqongqo Community Hall, where the main event and the official launch of the Social Employment Fund initiative was to take place. Amongst various other speakers, a beneficiary of the Social Employment Fund programme, Lindelwa Mkhize, took to the podium and shared a powerful testimony, reflecting on the realities of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide and the impact it has had on her life. “GBVF affects everyone, not only the victim but everyone around them. Witnessing GBVF take place, even if it’s not directed to you, and not speaking? Is no difference to you allowing it to take place!.” Her testimony highlighted how initiatives such as this programme are not only providing economic opportunities, but also restoring hope, dignity and a sense of purpose to survivors and those close to them. It serves as a reminder of the importance of continued support, empowerment and community-driven efforts in the fight against GBVF. #EndGBVF #PartnershipPolicing #CommunityPolicing SG

#sapsKZN [HAPPENING NOW] The Deputy Minister of Police, Dr SP Boshielo, MP, also further led a #GBVF Awareness Walk from Maqongqo Primary School to the Community Hall, mobilising community members to take a stand against violence. This walk serves as a visible call for action, encouraging communities to speak out, report abuse and support victims. It was a beautiful and inspiring scene having the opportunity of witnessing women, men, girls and boys, mothers, fathers, daughters and sons coming together in the fight against GBVF. GBVF remains one of the most serious crimes affecting our country. Police statistics continue to show high levels of violence against women and children, reinforcing the need for stronger interventions and community involvement. As SAPS, our responsibility goes beyond responding to crimes. We are expected to prevent violence, support victims, and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice. With that said, we urge the community to work with the police in ensuring we put an end to this horrific pandemic. #EndGBVF #PartnershipPolicing #CommunityPolicing SG

#sapsKZN [HAPPENING NOW] The programme continues at the second venue with the handing over of grocery packs to indigent families and #GBVF survivors, bringing relief and restoring dignity to those affected, while highlighting the ongoing need for community support and coordinated interventions. Following this, the Deputy Minister of Police, Dr SP Boshielo, MP, requested that members of the media step out of the room to allow for a more private and intimate engagement with GBVF survivors present at this second venue. This created a safe and close-knit space where survivors were able to engage more openly and comfortably. The engagement also provided an opportunity for survivors to share their experiences directly with the Deputy Minister in an intimate set up. They expressed gratitude for the support and food parcels received, whilst also raising serious community challenges, including drug abuse, the sale of counterfeit goods in local spaza shops and the impact this has on children, as well as concerns around deteriorating infrastructure. #EndGBVF #PartnershipPolicing #CommunityPolicing SG facebook.com/share/p/18atHi…

#sapsHQ [SAPS FORENSIC SCIENCE LABORATORY (FSL) OPENING MAYVILLE, KWAZULU-NATAL] The Deputy Minister of Police Dr Polly Boshielo delivered the purpose of the day day and said “As government, we are acutely aware of the concerns raised by communities regarding delays in forensic results, particularly DNA analysis. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to addressing these challenges decisively. This facility is part of a broader strategy to modernise policing, restore public confidence, and ensure that justice is not delayed — because justice delayed is justice denied. We commend the men and women who will serve in this laboratory — our scientists, analysts, and technical experts. Your work, though often unseen, is vital in securing convictions and ensuring that the rule of law prevails. You are the backbone of evidence-led policing.” Further stated DM Boshielo. facebook.com/share/p/1B2Vz8… #ServiceExcellence ST

#sapsHQ [SAPS FORENSIC SCIENCE LABORATORY (FSL) OPENING MAYVILLE, KWAZULU-NATAL] The Provincial Commissioner of Police in KwaZulu Natal delivered the closing remarks saying “The completion and the handing over of this building is an indication that we are on the right track. Police officers spend countless hours preventing crime. Where crime has happened, investigation officers know no sleep when chasing suspects and collecting pieces of evidence. Such evidence, especially firearms, drugs and DNA samples, need to be processed at a Forensic Science Laboratory and this building is meant to perform such functions.” facebook.com/share/1MGuEHis… #ServiceExcellence ST
