Their entire regulatory attitude is: “Do exactly as we tell you to do, and nothing more.” It's purely a dictatorship disguised as a democracy You try to comply with one lunatic policy just to get them off your back, and boom... here comes another one, and another one... Taxes screw over both the companies and the states they’re in. Taxes didn’t build those big companies. They show up after the success. They sure as hell didn’t create Silicon Valley. The sky-high taxes came later, once it was already killing it. California basically turned its successful companies into hosts and started parasitically draining them for more and more cash, jacking up the rates year after year. They forget the first rule of parasitism: don’t kill the host. Companies only have so much tolerance before they say screw it and bail for another state with better deals and resources. And that breaking point is a lot lower these days.

Fatherlessness hits hard. Nearly 50% of Black mothers are single, with 65% of Black kids growing up in single-mother homes. Kids without dads face higher risks (on average): poorer school performance, more behavioral issues, delinquency, incarceration, and poverty. This pattern holds across races. It’s simple, stable two-parent homes give kids a clear advantage. Bring back families.

I think once we get to a Starship launch every month we’ll see a dramatic increase in optimism. At once a week it will be boring again (for most people). Like Falcon 9 was. But that cadence is a perfect time to get your non-space friends and family to launch if they haven’t already. The experience is powerful the repetition rate makes it undeniably real.

It’s semi fair. Gas tax is calculated based on how many gallons of fuel you use. The EV tax is just a flat fee so the people who drive more actually win out and may pay less the people who drive less actually pay More for going Less miles. I’m not sure this is the best way to go about this. In NC I already pay a flat fee of $214.50 as an EV owner for a “road tax”. It doesn’t matter how much you drive you still get taxed unlike the gas vehicles. Not sure I would say this is fair, it’s maybe reasonable.

U.S. House lawmakers have proposed bipartisan legislation that ‌would require electric vehicles to pay a $130 fee to pay for road ⁠repairs annually and $35 for some plug-in hybrid models. The House is working on a five-year highway reauthorization bill expected to ‌cost ⁠more than $500 billion ahead of the current law expiration on Sept ⁠30, 2026. Most revenue for federally funded road ⁠repairs is collected through diesel and ⁠gasoline taxes, which EVs do not pay. I think $130 is fair since over time there will be fewer gas vehicles on the road generating tax revenue, They'll need to make up the difference somewhere so they can keep repairing roads, etc. Full bill text in thread below:
