It ultimately came down to that. Had he been better with his decisions / efficiency this game is probably in the bag. Disappointing. The Camavinga for Brahim sub actually tilted things in Bayern's favour. Camavinga took on a single pivot role and struggled closing Zone 14, and destabilized the initial double pivot coverage. Then the red card was the nail in the coffin. Still no idea what improvements the board expects next season if they run it back like this again. Xabi Alonso stepping down from his dream job is outrageous and shows the incompetence happening behind the scenes— following Zidane who did the same thing showing they haven’t learned a thing. I feel bad for Álvaro Arbeloa and position he’s out in — Juvenil A a year ago and 1st team now who are suffering with lots of gaps.

@Loconteee Isn’t one of the qualities you should have in a top-level job the ability to not fall prey to players’ egos? Not justifying some players’ attitudes here, but from a tactical point of view he didn’t double down on his ideas when it mattered most, which led to reduced trust + chaos

I’ll say this, Xabi Alonso fell prey of player ego’s and that became his downfall. From a team that looked right to a passive side— not his decision, vision and how he sees football being played out. For him– he’s probably relieved and doesn’t have to deal with this bullshit any longer. For the club— it shows leadership incompetence, inability to digest what’s good and bad. Supporting the wrong path and creating diversity. For us fans? This is basically a prayer that Alvaro Arbeloa doesn’t get treated the same way and maybe is allowed to do his job, unlike Xabi Alonso. Ultimately — this is looking really dark.
