@gfstarr1 The Giants could trade Devers right now for an incredible return and not eat any salary. Devers’s contract is actually cheap given the current market. The Red Sox were desperate to instantly unload him and got pennies on the dollar in return. Almost as bad as the Sale trade.

If it took $8M, Sandlin, and 2 PTBNL to complete the Hicks trade, imagine what it would cost the Red Sox to trade Yoshida and open up the DH role.

Real solid market for guys like Viktor Arvidsson and Casey Mittelstadt. Although, injuries to Zacha and Lindholm may cause hesitation. Andrew Peeke is a prime candidate. The thing about even considering a salary cap is how do you handle the Dodgers? They already have all of this guaranteed money on the books for the next couple of years. They would never be able to get under. They would have to start at like $450M and work their way down every year.

@BallParkBuzz A "salary cap", like all other prohibitions, simply transfers deeds from out in the open to under the table. A creative accountant can exploit loopholes the same way moguls skirt income tax. If a team can talk Ohtani into playing for $2mil/yr on paper, what good does any cap do?

Stop being so dramatic over the LAD signing Tucker. The LAD did more last off season and the game didn't shut down. Fans didn't stop watching. They didn't stop going and supporting their team. LAD won 93 games and gave us one of the greatest WS in years.....That everyone watched

Reacting to the Sox signing Ranger Suarez. Good pitcher? Yes. Qualities that scare me? Yes. Hard to judge fully until we see what they do with their surplus of V good SPs. But can’t say getting a SP that’s not a definite co-ace as the Bregman fallback was at the top of my list.

The best path forward probably is pitching and defense.
