As a non-believer, I always found the Bible to be a hopelessly incoherent mess After spending the last 18 months seriously studying it and having hundreds of conversations with Christians I'm still a non-believer But, at long last, the Bible itself finally makes sense Here's the principle that changed everything for me The Glory Imperative Simply put, the premise is this: God’s supreme priority is the magnification of His own glory — to the exclusion of everything else. Human beings are merely a practical necessity in order for His attributes to be fully realized This principle makes the pattern of events throughout the Bible not only understandable but also logically coherent Under the Glory Imperative, the full scope of God can only be realized in a broken and fallen world — one where wrath, jealousy and vengeance can be displayed alongside “love”, grace and mercy. Having “fine-tuned” the universe to support life, God also created the specific conditions necessary for “sin” to be introduced through Man’s “fall” He then populates that world with weak, helpless, incompetent beings since even a somewhat capable creation would be far less likely to stand in awe of Him or remain perpetually dependent Every blessing, every judgment, every miracle and every silence serves the same singular purpose: to magnify the name of God in an eternal loop The Glory Imperative assigns no moral judgment to this. It is merely a framework built to make sense of the available information

@naxoowd @athiestboi A "God" would simply be the name given to the designer of the universe if there is one The Christian version is the only one I've looked into seriously enough to form a definite opinion

@scaleyback246 The Exodus does not definitionally qualify since it benefitted only the Israelites while every first born child of Egypt was slaughtered In addition, the resulting 40-year-trek saw plenty of death for various "offenses" committed by the "freed" people

@DW2025X God always keeps his promises, people suffer for various reasons, reasons not always obvious, but we trust in God as we know he is righteous and good. God honouring his promises is a sign of his righteousness and love for us. Freeing the Israelites from Egypt is another example

Three ways to easy debunk Christianity. The trinity ✝️ Jesus Resurrection ✝️ The Noah Ark ✝️ These are my favorites because there’s no demonstrable evidence to show that these things were ever real. ⚡️

@DW2025X @NotEvolution1 Correct. These are legal issues. Kids are under their parent’s legal authority until they create their own family. Even after that, they’re still commanded to honor their parents.

@DW2025X @NotEvolution1 The child is under the parent's authority until they leave that jurisdiction and start their own. Genesis 2. Their parent's authority ceases when the child establishes his/her own covenant with their spouse. That new family is a self-governing entity under God's law.

@iowagolddsm @NotEvolution1 So rather than the "Age of Accountability", the child is under the parent until such time as they are deemed "capable" Is this a fair reading of your statement?

Exactly. The Bible teaches no such thing. We are all accountable to God from the moment of conception. Covenant Law is a whole other conversation. Succession to our kids is part of both the Old and New Covenants. "I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you." - God to Abraham, Gen 17:7 Acts 2 ties directly to the Abramic Covenant. "Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” "and your children" means God's covenant applies to the kids. As long as the Dad (or ruling parent) is under covenant with Christ, the kids are under that umbrella too.

@Anyachi4ox I have a standing offer for any Christian to provide one example of how God "so loved the world" before sending Jesus to "save" it Said example must be sufficient in scope and apply to more than one group of people So far, a few bad examples and crickets

@etheldredanet The principle of Soli Deo Gloria suggests that God's glory is His ultimate aim which the Bible repeatedly leans into The Job account is the best evidence we have of what happens when human well-being and God's glory diverge

'God's love... isn't a love devoid of feeling. Although self-controlled obedience is involved, so is Jesus’ ‘compassion’(Matthew 9:36, 14:14, 15:32, 20:34)... So ‘let’s not love in word only... but in deed’(1 John 3:18), and with heart-felt sincerity.' (from threaded link below).

I hear you, and of course kids are wonderful and should be protected. We are talking about human nature. Take your logic to its conclusion. If kids are good and pure and righteous, then the only way to 100% guarantee salvation for them is to send them to heaven before they get a chance to sin. Right? There are abortionists out there who believe they’re doing those babies a favor because of this logic. Why let them grow up to be corrupted by this world?
