Some books announce themselves. This one would rather earn you. Solara — Book One of the Eclipse Cycle — arrives this fall. Until then I'll be here, building the world out loud, one signal at a time. The prologue's already at dwjonah.com. Free, for anyone who'd rather not wait.

@_Knight_writer There was at least one percent of me that wondered if someone was going to buy 100 books to get a guy two new tires.

@exQUIZitely modded. HMM3 is still the best turn based game in existence. The music, the possibilities, the friends howls as they lose or my own. Looking at the clock, 5am and still going for that last turn.

One of the best turn-based strategy games I ever played from the pre-2000 era is Heroes of Might and Magic II (New World Computing, 1996). I lost count of how many times I completed the campaign. Everything about the game is brilliant: the core concept, the addictive gameplay flow, the vibrant and colourful pixel-graphics, the absolutely wonderful soundtrack, the light RPG elements for your heroes, hunting for powerful artefacts, the tactical battle system, city management, army composition, and the spell system. It wasn't just a mix of randomly thrown together elements, but they worked perfectly together. I could keep going, but anyone who played it probably feels the same way. The Heroes of Might and Magic series is one of the all-time greats, and to this day, Heroes II is still the one I return to most (followed by III). What did you think of it? Does it still hold up now, three decades later?

Family dinner for my amazing wife's birthday... excellent food and family. It's the best. What a blessing! Only small stress for me was completing the all the hot items at the same time.

@Miss_Lakewood "If you’re an indie writer right now and something in you keeps pulling toward an idea that feels too weird, too personal, too “no one’s asking for this”… listen to it. That discomfort might be the first sign you’ve found the door out of the bubble."

@LostAshen Book two of my series. Phone brain vs computer brain. I've been writing three books at once.

Enjoyed this. Great to listen to as words for Luna start to cross 30 percent done.

@DWJonah @YouTube I like stuff with Lute's and ethereal sounds. Something I wrote and friends made for me as I have near no actual music talent :

@taiwofaith679 tis true. writing it on and off for 20 years and took it back up again after 20 years 2 years ago. I liked the vibe still but my earlier writing had afew golden nuggets it needed a great deal of work. One full year in edit.

“Is the book almost done? Meanwhile, the writer is fixing plot holes, rewriting chapter 3 for the 12th time, and emotionally recovering from their own characters. Writers… how long have you been working on your current book? #authors #writer #amwriting #bookwriters

Hajime no Ippo is the series that inspired me to start writing. It wasn't just the incredible fights it was the perseverance, rivalries, friendships, and the journey of becoming stronger that stayed with me long after I finished it. That inspiration led me to create Lily the Fierce Flower. While it's an original world with its own characters and story, the passion to create it came from the feelings Hajime no Ippo gave me. Thank you, George Morikawa, for creating a story that inspired me to create one of my own. I hope one day Lily the Fierce Flower can inspire someone else the way Hajime no Ippo inspired me.

@michaelsusnjer really good. What caused that side look? Four of them had ridden down into this lab. Going back up, the man beside her clasped his hands while the other stared at the wall. Isobel watched the numbers climb.

@DWJonah Very well put, DW. And you’re absolutely right - that feeling of rushing home after school for some Zelda, Goldeneye, or Mario Kart was the best feeling in the world. Also dial-up internet at 11:30 PM on the weekend to play Diablo II with your friends lol

Why write? I want to tell stories that feel like rushing home after school to play Nintendo 64 with your friends. Waiting for the next empty controller, laughing until it hurt, and feeling like the whole world could fit inside one room. To gift that feeling to someone else. Why do you write?
