It should be public knowledge that local councils and local communities abroad pay for royal visits. One of the wealthiest families on earth charging for what is assuredly purely self promotion.

Charles has had four years to explain how much the payout was, what his contribution was and where it all came from. Why should we believe denials now? And it’s interesting he’s not denying his mum paid up.

A lot - not all - of royal correspondents and commentators really have questions to answer about their collusion with the royal PR machine. That PR circus is not journalism, it is not honest and it helps protect people like Andrew. And it continues now.

William’s silence and acquiescence has defended his uncle for 20 years. His pathetic attempts to distance himself from this don’t spirit away serious questions about what he knew and when.
