Sovereign wealth funds are usually set up as a means to channel government surpluses, which is clearly not applicable to Canada. This looks like little more than another Canada Infrastructure Bank.

Nine years ago, @JustinTrudeau launched the Canadian Infrastructure Bank: It was "tasked with financially supporting revenue-generating infrastructure projects that are 'in the public interest' by catalyzing private investment." In 2026, the "new" @liberal_party gov't have found the solution to what's been holding Canada back: the lack of a "Sovereign Wealth Fund" that'll invest in infrastructure projects alongside the private sector! Norway has zero effective national debt; that's why it can benefit from a true SWF. Ottawa & the Provinces already owe $2.5 trillion in debt; borrowing more to "invest" is just another margin loan backed by our Grandchildren. At my sister's wedding yesterday and I was so amazed looking at my mum's friends show up, bring souvenirs to share, come from out of state and just generally show up. Our generation is just interested in buying overpriced asoebi, making videos of how much it costs to attend a friend's wedding or event. What has happened to showing up with extra drinks or a cooler of food? Bringing souvenirs, making sure guests are fed? Slowly we are just losing our sense of community to pepper strangers online.

I recently sat down with @ifeanyindiomewe on the 'When Everything Changed' podcast, and had one of the most open conversations I've had on camera.
When Ifeanyi asked who I blame for some of the early stumblings of Sycamore, I quickly said - I blame myself first😅. I find that it's always better to remove the log in your eye, before focusing on the spec of another.

In 2022, I walked into a neigbourhood supermarket on a random Saturday morning. Saw a guy who I thought looked familiar. I wasn't sure but I walked up to say hi anyway. Turns out we had a mutual friend. We exchanged numbers and met up for lunch a few days later.
24 hours after the lunch, this guy casually sends N50m to us for a deal. I'm not sure what we could have done if that money didn't come through, as it was a very rough season for us.
Every time I recall this experience, I keep wondering what would have happened if I didn't say hi to that guy.
He is now "my guy", and has done billions worth of business with us since then.
