I think a lot of the cases of saying inappropriate things are probably fake. I have it and it just makes me blink a lot sometimes. I’ve had it since before social media existed.

The number of people with "DID" has swollen nearly as much as he number of people who are trans in the past couple of decades. Also the number of people with turrets syndrome. Either they are lying or we have a crisis in our environment. These are all exceedinly rare disorders so how tf do so many people suddenly have them.

@grey__tide @CowardAm @hieywieyneue They’re talking about the challenger explosion in which a teacher was killed who was invited to be part of the crew. There was a design flaw that was primarily due to corner cutting. Engineers had already pointed out the flaw before launch.

@reddit_lies If its before school it is likely not a class and more like an elective or club. Something that needs to be signed up for. Meaning their not doing anything wrong. As an atheist I think more schools should have an elective class on all religions.

If a chemist didn’t know the specific atomic masses of a good number of the elements, especially common ones, I’d think they were an idiot.

When I would expect a decently educated American to know the states then yeah I expect a geographer to.

@MatthewDePra @CharlesTingler In olden days a sponsor somebody who vouched for somebody’s entrance to a Christian community. People were persecuted and spies were sent in. You needed the trust of somebody already in. Nowadays it’s mostly tradition, but still required.

The Catholic priest at the church I had been attending just emailed me. He said he is still willing to work with me toward full communion. He has found a sponsor for me named Tom, and he wants to see consistency from me before moving forward. The original plan was for the Easter Vigil, but with less than two weeks left, that is no longer realistic. He now wants to aim for Pentecost Sunday as the target date for me to enter full communion and receive the sacraments. This message came out of the blue, and I am praying seriously about whether I truly want to do this.

@TheJ9747 I see you are Catholic. Many of my closest friends in the world were met through church at my Catholic college. Joining a Bible study or something is an easy way to get to know people without huge expectations. Just go in with an attitude that they will like you.

Kids would keep making excuses and try to drag out making stuff up to buy time… while getting further away from when they learned it and then do worse. The 0 gets them to make it up right away and do better

@OfTheJesters @Weezertuah I actually wanted to add an additional thought: many nations in Southeast Asia and Africa did not cover breasts until conquered or colonized. India only started after being conquered by Mughals. But now they’re just as sexualized in India. So I think the hidden taboo is accurate.

@OfTheJesters @Weezertuah It started off in the 14th century BC as clothing designed to support breasts. From there it because it was removed from view it probably developed more in terms of sexualization. Of course they’ve always been secondary sexual features, but so are beards.
