I belive Draper is better equipped to administer the funds then catalyst ever was. Draper Dragon specifically was founded in 2006, so ~20 years in VC. Tim Draper's broader involvement goes back to 1985 with Draper Associates, and the family lineage to 1957. Look how many "businesses" closing now due to lack of funding, Orfax for one. You can not employ people on funding alone, you need an income, no matter how much good you want to do for Cardano. Catalyst has been like a open bank vault. Sadly.

Well, this is why things like Midnight change the game but not for transparency. Yeah, we agree. You get it. I personally think the mistake they made was we valued crypto in FIAT. And yet there’s nothing more valuable in this world than time. You wanna create a decent crypto then it should be valued in seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, and years. But when I look at the crypto experiment, I see it as a failure. Because people are scared to actually jump from FIAT to a new financial system. These guys just want to re-create Tradfi 2.0, it’s not escaping or detaching from the old system, it’s just making it more powerful. IMHO I say that, with a friend whose Head Of innovation for one of the biggest banks in the world. I’ve had many conversations about their views on this industry and what they wish to achieve. People romanticising about how we can just move the financial system and take it over are naive to think that the little guy has any power over that amount of money, we simply don’t and that’s the problem. You’re on the right path and so are many other people here. Until people understand what a P2P economy really is. We’re just getting trapped in a surveillance grid. We need to rethink value! Not just convert FIAT to another derivative. I do hope enough people can figure it out. Because I think we’re running out of time.

No disrespect, but this is where the crypto industry gets it wrong. They don’t understand the systemic risk. Bank deposits aren’t real money, they’re debt. Pulling them out at scale doesn’t free capital, it destabilises the economy. The entire system runs on credit. 💥

To my understanding the crypto world wants to change the dark banking industry into a transparent banking system. Now... the usdm and other stables, can not exist without a somewhat stable fiat. Btc is notoriously pegged to $ If the crypto industry want to eradicate the old Fiat system, what value should we pegge the stables toward? BTC? 😂😂 IF that was to happen, we need BTC backed by a lot of $ ohh no, we can't do that$ is gone. So no. I don't belive crypto is ever going to replace fiat. But it will make trafi more transparent. And make it easier to transfer money between continents. And we can build privacy and security into pretty much every corner of our life.

Here’s the truth. I wholeheartedly believe the scams, lies, hacks, and nonstop misinformation are destroying one of the greatest opportunities of our lifetime. Maybe permanently. Think about that for a second. This isn’t exaggeration. Look around. Freedom and self-sovereignty are shrinking everywhere. Twenty years ago, when I read 1984, I thought it was clever fiction. Today it feels like a warning label we ignored. And then came Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin gave us a shot at rewriting the script, a chance to push back against a future of surveillance and control. But greed is threatening to ruin that chance. That’s why I don’t shut up about it. Imagine where Web3 could be if we didn’t have FTX, Luna, Celsius, BitConnect, or the graveyard of rug pulls. Each one didn’t just fail. They dragged the entire space down with them. Two steps forward. Two steps back. And let's be real. People warned us. Every single time. We just didn't care. Five percent yield on Bitcoin sounded too good to pass up. "Number go up" was the only narrative we cared about. So what did it cost? Half the world now thinks crypto is a scam. Can you blame them? I don't. Billions stolen in just the past five years. Probably double that if you count what never gets reported. And for every victim, a dozen friends and family hear about it.
