@dbznd @otokyo__ A friend and I went cycling up in the North of Scotland aged 15. Huge adventure. Stayed in youth hostels. Away for seven days. Mum sewed a £1 note into my trousers in case of emergency! We had to phone home “reverse charges” from a call box every night. Another story!

Keen leisure cycling in Scotland is all about the scenery. I had great vistas (no 📱🖼!) 2/3rd of #RtN2025. At Kirriemuir rain hit, till the finish (and then back to Forfar to catch my @RideEmber). OK, here's a shot of the overcast but grand riding through the #Lintrathen loop.

@adamtranter This evening I walked (1 mile return) down to three amenities (for takeaway and groceries) on our high street and this quickie parking annoyed me.

Encouraging walking for short shopping trips can help boost trade in local neighbourhoods. Data from London shows pedestrians visit their high streets most frequently. What's more, they spend up to 40% more over a month than people who drive to the high street.

Cities need better mobility solutions. And sometimes, the most effective ones have been in front of us (or indeed, behind us) for decades. This one is affordable, usually has two wheels… but it’s not a bicycle. 🧵

It’s been four and a half years since the Government consultation on banning pavement parking with still no outcome. “For most people, being pushed into the road to walk around cars is not nice. But for some, that is literally putting them off leaving the house.”
