This is essentially what I want. The specs of this Tom Stewart Hickory Niblick in a modern sand wedge. This Niblick/sand wedge was made in 1932 after golfers got a good look at the new instrument Gene Sarazen was using in the 1932 Open Championship. Look at that beautiful bounce!!! I have no need to open it up- I have a 58* for that. I want a SW that I can attack the ball with and floats like a butterfly out of bunkers. @ArtisanGolfTX @EDELgolf @VokeyWedges @ClevelandGolf @MiuraGolfInc

@KGSGolf Apples vrs oranges. The ProV1 and other similar current balls are 1:68”. The ‘Old’ Dunlop 65 is 1:62” size. A more accurate comparison would be current ball, ie ProV1, against the later period 1:68” size Dunlop 65. ⛳️🙂

Following on from yesterday’s post, we carried out a little experiment using a Dunlop 65 from approximately 56 years ago and a fresh from the box Titleist Pro V1. The result was somewhat surprising….

I don’t know how to fix this golf rule and maybe there isn’t a way to fix it. But it just feels so wrong. It can literally be a full or half stroke reward for finding a sprinkler head. Something can be legal and be ethically wrong. That’s what this is.

@RDSBarath One thing hitting the ball further has increased is the cost of playing the game. ⛳️☹️

@DPWorldTour Money is spent on new clubs and balls that go further. Then more money is spent on making courses longer. How dumb is that! No wonder an already expensive game gets ever more expensive. ⛳️☹️

The 681 yard 13th hole on The Blackstone Course is the 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 hole in DP World Tour history 🤯 We challenged Niklas Nørgaard, who ranks 4th in driving distance this season and averages 323 yards, to play it with a driver only 👀 #HainanClassic

@flushingitgolf Bryson needs to read some Bobby Jones and the great thing about it being its “maddening difficulty” And surely his far you hit is but a small element of what makes golf fun? And Valderrama bring ‘hard’ misses the point completely of what the distance has done to courses.

Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey and Anirban Lahiri have a very interesting opinion on golf club technology and the rollback. Bryson believes that drivers haven’t changed much since 2009 and the improvements are more to do with athletic ability. Paul Casey agreed with that and said there isn’t enough credit given to the athlete. And Anirban Lahiri said that golf course design has played a big factor. Bryson then followed up by questioning what the governing bodies are actually trying to achieve with a roll back and laid out what his goals are for the game. I found this 3 minute clip fascinating and it’s definitely worth a watch to understand the thoughts of the elite pros when it comes to this issue.

The game has changed, via equipment, where it is now modus operandi (with a Driver in your hands) to swing it at 125mph + if you are aiming for pro-level golf. 125mph+ swing speed was not advisable for the hundreds of years prior, as a miscue was punished. The manufacturers have pushed golf to a place where getting the human body to hit the ball as hard and as far as is humanely possible is a clear advantage. The negatives in this decision making are obvious; - traditional golf course designs become obsolete - golf takes 5 hours per round, instead of 3.5 - professional golfers have more back problems - professional golfers have more back problems, * even college golfers and kids in their 20s.

Sandringham Golf Course A delightful introduction to sandbelt golf. Redesigned by @OCMGolf in 2019, this par 65 packs a punch and is presented in a very fine manner. The fescue approaches with firm turf ensure the ground game is alive and kicking

Supply is fixed, and it appears demand isn't. With so much inbound golf tourism, the courses are full in high season, and they are willing to pay the sticker price. Bucket list tickers don't seem to mind the green fee... 📸 Clyde Johnson, Larry Lambrecht, Gary Lisbon

@MidwestGolfJake All would be an improvement on the present position. Golfing snowflakes and the vested interest manufacturers wouldn’t like it, but that would be another good reason for instigating such changes!😱😂 No bunker raking and a big rollback in the ball would be good too. ⛳️🙂

I completely agree with this take. If I were king for a day I'd make 3 equipment changes: 1. Putter has to be the shortest club in your bag 2. Driver can be no longer than 44" and no bigger than 310cc. 3. Max number of clubs you can have in your bag is 10.
Rick Golfs@Top100Rick

Kay Adams gets Jordan Spieth to talk about the broomstick and anchoring. He is cordial about it, but he also thinks the putter should be the shortest club in that bag and explains why. It’s an easy fix and eliminates anchoring essentially.
