I am aware of the disturbing incident targeting worshippers during Friday prayers outside the Baitul Mamur Mosque in Brooklyn, where a man praying was struck with an egg. 

That hateful act is unacceptable and an affront to the values that define us as New Yorkers. 

My administration is committed to rooting out anti-Muslim hate in all its forms and ensuring every New Yorker can live and worship in safety and dignity. The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating this incident.

@PramilaJayapal If someone is unable to perform the simple task of presenting ID- then they certainly aren't capable of voting for what's best for the country. They would be voting for who they're told to....example: college age who can't even make intelligent choices, they're so easily gaslit.

Democracy requires constant defense. It does not maintain itself. Republicans want to require citizenship documents to vote in federal elections. On its face, it sounds administrative. In practice, it would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters — disproportionately Black, brown, and low-income Americans. This is not about election integrity. There is no evidence of widespread non-citizen voting. This is about who gets to participate in democracy. I believe in a democracy that is accessible to every eligible citizen. Not just the ones who happen to have their papers. We will fight this legislation with everything we have.
