BREAKING NEWS SIU FREEZES R76.5 MILLION IN 17 PROPERTIES AND 7 LUXURY CARS IN ESKOM-RELATED ALLEGED CORRUPTION The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has secured a preservation order from the Special Tribunal, freezing 17 immovable properties worth R76.5 million and 7 luxury cars linked to businessman Siyabonga Moses Goodwill Nkosi and his network of trusts. The order, granted by Judge BM Ngoepe, prevents these assets from being sold, transferred, or hidden while the SIU seeks to set aside irregular contracts and recover public funds. The SIU investigation, authorised under Proclamation R.80 of 2022, uncovered how Eskom officials at Kusile and Matla Power Stations turned procurement into a jackpot. Between 2021 and 2023, officials approved inflated and irregular purchase orders for relays, which are equipment meant to keep power stations running. Instead of delivering reliable service, Nkosi’s companies delivered invoices. Eskom officials signed off on contracts that priced relays at R50,000 each, when the market price was between R180 and R450. This manipulation resulted in a direct financial loss of R73,650,994.87 to Eskom. Eskom officials further split purchase orders to keep transactions below the R1 million threshold, abusing the informal tendering system and bypassing formal procurement processes. False part numbers were uploaded to Eskom’s systems to ensure only colluding vendors could bid, inflating costs for equipment that was never needed and remains unused in stock years later. Nkosi is cited both personally and as trustee of the Nkosi Royal Trust, Sibongukukhanya Trust, and Siyabonga Kankosi Trust. These entities became conduits for laundering Eskom’s procurement money into prime properties in top suburbs, estates and land in Gauteng, KwaZulu‑Natal, and Mpumalanga, and into a garage of luxury cars such as Lamborghinis, Porsche Cayennes, and a Panamera. This preservation order motivates the SIU to move towards approaching the Special Tribunal to review and set aside these contracts. The order allows for the SIU to launch proceedings within sixty days from the date of the order. In line with the Special Investigating Units and Special Tribunals Act 74 of 1996 (SIU Act), the SIU will refer any evidence of criminal conduct uncovered during its investigation to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for further action. The SIU is also authorised to initiate civil proceedings in the High Court or a Special Tribunal in its name to correct any wrongdoing uncovered during its investigation and to recover financial losses suffered by the State, including funds paid for services not rendered.

Please post for me. I lost my father in November 2025. He had a Life Assurance Policy with Fidelity Life for more than 10 years. During that time, USD $12 was deducted from his salary every month, as he was a government teacher. After his burial, we went to the Fidelity Life offices in Harare (along Julius Nyerere Way) to make a claim. We were told the money would be deposited into my mother’s account in February 2026. February came, but nothing was deposited. I went back to their offices, and they told me to come back the following Friday. We waited, but still nothing. After two more weeks, I returned again. This time, they told me that only USD $38 and 2000 ZiG would be deposited into my mother’s account the next week. After more than 10 years of deductions from my father’s salary, this is all my mother is expected to receive, and even that has not yet been paid. Fidelity Life is a scam. Others should be careful. @FidelityLifeZW

Why not combine Kwekwe & Redcliff into one city? Centre to centre distance between Kwekwe & Redcliff is merely 16km, & the edges of each town < 12km. Both towns are building residential areas towards each other. Redcliff was originally built as a township for ZISCO, since ZISCO's collapse it has struggled with services, there is no benefit for it being standalone. Kwekwe can absorb the extra rate payers.

@nickmangwana It's not showing on the prices released by ZERA unless there is something in the cost build up that is not being declared. With the removal of taxes our prices should be comparable to the other regional ones since we are taking from the same source, alas we are a whole $0.5 more.

TAXES ON DIESEL REMOVED Govt has removed all taxes on diesel; •Excise Duty, •ZINARA Road •Levy, Carbon Tax, and •Strategic Reserve Levy effective April 3, 2026 (today) to counter rising global fuel prices caused by Middle East tensions. These taxes totaled USD 0.54 per litre; without them, diesel would have reached USD 2.65 per litre. Petrol taxes remain unchanged. The move aims to protect consumers and industries (agriculture, mining, manufacturing, logistics), stabilize prices, anchor inflation, and support economic recovery, despite being a significant fiscal sacrifice. The government will continue monitoring global developments.

🚨 This was the conversation between Alvaro Arbeloa and Munuera Montero following Valverde's red card. Referee: "Listen to me for a second, then you can ask me. Can I speak? He doesn’t play the ball. He comes from behind, doesn’t play the ball, and his only intention is to bring him down with excessive force." Arbeloa: "You’ve played football. You’ll see it later…" [Via @mundodeportivo]

Shocking footage from this evening of a ballistic missile striking the city of Dimona in southern Israel. Home to 40,000 residents, a direct hit on a civilian neighborhood is a war crime! I’m furious that world leaders still refuse to stand up and call out Iran. When Israel defends itself, every UN body goes crazy — cheered on by hypocritical Western nations.

@Eng_china5 Now imagine, there was no 12-days war and no current operation. And now imagine, Iran would make some more steps towards the nuke. Suddenly, with all its crazyness and damage, it doesn't seem so stupid anymore, that the capacities of the regime get wrecked.

Iran shelled the Dimona reactor in response to the strike on Natanz. An Iranian ballistic missile reportedly hit Dimona in southern Israel. Most importantly, the Iranian missiles appear to have easily penetrated the latest and strongest U.S. and Israeli air defense systems protecting the Israeli nuclear reactor, with at least two interception systems reportedly bypassed in this operation.
