I build self-organising distributed industrial systems designed for human integration. Current industrial tech is 30 years old, can't land on mars with that.

@McKay_Dingis024 He doesn't want a pivot, he has principles and isn't a whore like the other companies that sells himself out. He couldn't give flying fuck apart from the ACTUAL moral stand. Something you'll never understand because your only points of reference have been African leaders

Elon Musk’s latest tirade against South Africa is a masterclass in billionaire bait-and-switch. He claims Starlink is banned solely because he isn’t Black, a narrative he pushes to his 200-million-plus followers as proof of "viciously racist" laws. In reality, the 30% local equity requirement he decries is a standard part of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) framework that hundreds of other U.S. giants, including Microsoft, have navigated for decades without the "drama". Musk’s "principle" against these rules conveniently ignores that South Africa has already pivoted to accommodate him. As of December 2025, the government introduced Equity Equivalent Investment Programmes (EEIPs), allowing foreign firms like Starlink to skip the equity transfer entirely by investing in local infrastructure and skills. Instead of taking the win, Musk has escalated to hurling expletives at senior diplomats and alleging (without evidence) that he was pressured to "bribe" his way into a license. The irony is thick: while Musk plays the victim of "reverse racism", his refusal to follow local law is the primary hurdle keeping high-speed internet from the very rural South African communities he claims to want to help. It isn't about the color of his skin; it’s about a billionaire who believes his birthplace owes him a waiver for the same rules everyone else follows.

ICYMI | President Cyril Ramaphosa says when it comes to the social media posts from Elon Musk, he pays little attention to that, because “I know our laws are not racist, they are empowerment laws that are meant to empower the various people in our country who were discriminated against.”

My first morning in the US. Flying again today to my new home in upstate New York where I've been settled. Many of you ask why would I choose to go there? Refugees have no say where they are placed. I'll make the best of it. Luckily, the US is huge, and I could always move to anywhere where there's work for me. So this is just my launch pad. There's so many beautiful states I want to see. Can't wait for my parents and my dog to get here as well. My best friends are also applying with their two kids. I have also convinced some cousins to look into it. Thank you President Trump! I love America! USA USA USA!!!

Why Julius Malema’s appeal will be successful: State says that: 1. Snyman handed a gun to Julius Malema(gun presumed to be Snyman’s). 2. Malema fired live ammunition from that gun. 3. Snyman was negligent in doing so. The court dismisses the section 174 application for both accused & says they have a case to answer to. Malema answers his case & brings his own evidence(the toy gun). Snyman refuses to answer his case, not even about the gun that he allegedly gave to Julius which is in the possession of the State but opts to bring experts which the court says were unhelpful. However, the court acquits Snyman & convicts Malema. In so doing the court is basically saying that Snyman did not hand a gun to Malema. Now here are the two big questions that arise: Then whose gun did Julius Malema discharge & was it a real gun? The answers to those questions are simply not before the court & if the answers are not before the court, how did this magistrate find that the State proved its case beyond reasonable doubt?

@lenand40 @MightiJamie You're trying so hard to build walls out of single clauses as if they're immovable and impossible walls. It's WAY easier for the government to negotiate a deal with starlink to change the policies of usage and take ownership of the rollout than for them to contract cell companies

@DaleSparrow @MightiJamie Priority (Business) Plans: These plans are more flexible. Starlink explicitly allows for "community Wi-Fi" or "hotspot" use (e.g., for hotels or boats), provided you aren't acting as an unauthorized agent or distributor of the Starlink brand itself.

1. Starlink is not “cheap internet” 2. The reason why Starlink does not have a license is because they withdrew their application in January of 2025. 3. A satellite internet company license requires trustworthy operators who will not abuse that power or exploit the people.

@DaleSparrow @MightiJamie Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) Hardware: To beam internet to neighbors, you’d use high-gain outdoor antennas (like Ubiquiti or Mikrotik gear) to send a signal from your roof to theirs.

@DaleSparrow @MightiJamie A Managed Router/Controller: You need a way to "divide" the bandwidth. Without a controller, one person downloading a 100GB game will make the internet unusable for everyone else. You would need to set rate limits (e.g., capping each neighbor at 20Mbps).

@lenand40 @MightiJamie Again, trying super hard to hammer on the 'single owner ' clause as if there isn't a negotiation that could happen for rollouts. Also, again, the government would own the stations and any router tracks MAC addresses linked to the device responsible. Mountains out of mole heaps

@DaleSparrow @MightiJamie As the account holder, you are legally responsible for all traffic. If a neighbor downloads illegal content, the digital trail leads directly to your name and Starlink account.

@lenand40 @MightiJamie XD omg you are trying SO hard to make this an issue. You are clearly neither a network engineer nor someone I'd want to invite to any type of problem solving sessions. You CERTAINLY don't need any kind of thousand rand equipment. You just need a simple WiFi router.

@DaleSparrow @MightiJamie While you can technically bridge the signal to a neighbor using a few thousand Rands' worth of equipment, doing so on a standard residential plan puts your account at risk of being banned. If you do it for profit, you are technically an unlicensed ISP, which is a legal risk in SA

@lenand40 @MightiJamie You're not an illegal ISP what are you talking about 🤣🤣 it's extremely common for a single panel to be connected to a local WAN network. To get a RAIN router costs you R800 per month and you STILL haven't built the cell infrastructure needed.

@DaleSparrow @MightiJamie Multiple that by R18 and we are then talking Rands. In this case you have become an illegal ISP and are illegally sharing a service intended for domestic use. You take far bigger risks and primarily you are an illegal operator. Know of anyone else using the model legally?

@DaleSparrow @MightiJamie Who said anything about fiber? Fiber isn’t the only option out there but it is still cheaper but stretched out I agree it becomes more expensive. There is wireless internet through Rain, Vodacom, MTN and Telkom. There are no starlink stats for SA.

@lenand40 @MightiJamie One-time hardware cost per person: $350 ÷ 20 = $17.50. Monthly service per person (using $120 MAX plan for "very fast"): $120 ÷ 20 = $6. First-year total per person: $17.50 + (12 × $6) = ~$89.50 (or ~$7.46/month). Ongoing yearly per person: $72 (~$6/month).

@lenand40 @MightiJamie Go read on the starlink stats. One terminal is such high speed you could easily serve 20 people. Then do calculations on infrastructure costs. It will take millions to deploy fiber or towers to some areas, someone has to pay. Starlink is cheaper.

South Africa could change the world. Andrew Forbes South African 🇿🇦 is working on building what could become the world’s fastest internet using quantum technology. The University of the Witwatersrand professor is exploring how lasers can transmit data thousands to millions of times faster than current systems. The twist… this is not small research. It could completely change how data moves across the world, from communication to AI and global networks.
