What a homie! @gillaxian sent out a bunch of homemade stickers to remind me and @Cruzlink2 how awful it is to work on the CPS3 system, but we still do it. Thanks dude!

@RndMnkIII @totalyfury Gotcha was confused since you have it running through the Sega JVS to JAMMA IO board. So more like for use in a JVS equipped vewlix or a Naomi universal cab

@DanDoyle This is specific to JVS (sucesor to JAMMA) cabinets that use a IO interface board with a custom protocol, thanks to the work of @totalyfury

@CastleManiaRyan The lack of a 2nd FPGA is concerning as this chip doesn't have an ARM component inside it like DE10 nano which handles the UI, rom loading, save states and core switching. This means ,while powerful, it will be limited and unable to play other cores.

It looks like the ModRetro M64 is powered by a Xilinx Artix-7 FPGA. If that’s true, this thing’s gonna be a very capable contender for an N64 clone. Very excited!

@TIMFAM0US @stacycay "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe" - CK

@DanEvilRobot @MisterAddons Yeah and it’s not even just about the way they make the games look. The way the CRTs look and the way they work is just cool. If I only have access to a scaler and a modern display that’s fine I’d still play the games, but the experience is 10x better for me on a tube

@MisterAddons @zaxour Nightmare fuel, these are such a PITA to work on, what a tedious recap. No idea how zaxour has the patience to keep cranking them out

@IssaZombie343 @zaxour Best I’ve seen for packing is that expanding foam that expands when activated and conforms perfectly to the item shipped in the box. We need 100% more of that for people shipping expensive vintage electronics

@zaxour Incredible. What luck. Seriously, someone needs to make "pool noodles" ....but for shipping electronics. Take my money.

What kind of advanced physics degree do I need to figure out how to pack a laserdisc player with next to nothing and not have it arrive destroyed, like this galaxy brain eBay seller?

@strangedevices1 @topapate The monitor and marquee run off AC so unrelated to the power draw needed for the game. Jamma as a standard has audio amplification on the PCB output as mono typically using the 12V DC, so really you can measure 5V DC for the game logic draw

@topapate I think the specs of the JAMMA PSU confuse people - most of the power is for the monitors, and sometimes for audio amps and marquees and odd controllers that had motors etc ?

Before I worked on arcade systems, I thought they would be quite power hungry as it is an old technology. But in reality these boards tend to be around 10W on the 5V supply. Not much different from the FPGA systems we use to replicate them.
