More than a decade ago, I had the chance to visit @Carvana HQ to give one of my talks to the team there.
Finally had a chance to sell a used car w/ them, and overall, it was a very good experience. None of the hassles of selling peer to peer, better price than trade-in. 💯

Loving @Carvana supporting @Stanford @GoCardinal this year across sports. Carvana has deep Stanford roots and we're pumped to support student athletes who are somehow balancing it all and pushing hard to win in the NCAA, for @LA28, and beyond. Let's go @StanfordMGym !!

3D printing is the perfect hobby for a busy startup CEO.
It's technical(ish), it usually works as you expect but when it goes wrong, it only goes wrong in little ways that are always fixable with a little bit of effort: which is exactly as much time/energy that a busy CEO has. I've never had an intractably bad or highly complex 3d printing problem.
It's low-stakes because you can't make anything really serious with a consumer-grade printer but successful projects are often cute or useful in a nice quality-of-life way, like making a custom fitting to fix some little repair you needed, or custom orchid pots, or little toys or figurines for the non-technical people in your life. Even stuff like "I can make that in another color" are rewarding because sometimes a thing looks okaaay but if it's another color it looks awesome.
And now that AI can help with CAD for custom 3d printed objects - and every startup CEO basically has to be investigating AI - you can combine your AI work with 3d printing!

There has always been speculation about how @Carvana creates such differentiated results. The truth is simpler than many people realize - it's a vertically integrated business model built to create better customer experiences end to end. I appreciate @peterahigh digging into the details of our integrated systems and the tailwinds to come from AI.

I really enjoyed the deep discussion on auto retail with @Devindra for the @engadget podcast. Scaling auto ecommerce is very, very hard and Devindra asks the right questions engadget.com/mobile/smartph…

If you haven’t played with the Shaqbot at Shaqvana.com - highly recommend. Great car buying support, but you can also get the Big Aristotle to pump you up or even talk a little trash about Sir Charles

Very proud of this honor. @Stanford changed my life in more ways than I can count, and in particular I have to thank @DaveDurante1 and Coach Thom Glielmi for the drive, discipline, and laughs every step of my @StanfordMGym career. #gostanford !

@Carvana just wondering why the app ain’t working today? Everything on my end is good so just wondering if I’m just wasting my time
English

@wesblog @Carvana Ah, that makes sense. We'd probably be better off saying "no thank you." in cases like this. There is copy that says, "Not all sweet rides are in our sweet spot" when we know the bid is low, but extreme cases like this aren't great. Thanks for sharing - we'll revisit internally

Very much agree there is so much exhaust that can be collected from users’ natural behaviors that AI can readily take in and adapt experiences vs. explicit user input (“listening” to users as Mikey says.) AND, a text box with typeahead or voice input is just such an insanely flexible UX that it ain’t going anywhere soon

6. Why OpenAI Did a Disservice to Every AI Company
Everybody thinks an empty text box is the right interface for AI.
It works for ChatGPT but is unsuitable for basically everything else.
There should be far more intuitive ways to interact with AI in 6–12 months.
How do you see the way consumers interact with AI tools changing in the next 12 months @scottbelsky @ramanrmalik @dangill?
