@Acehardlight98 @MattCouture5 @jmGreekwedding You are referring to a quote from 2018. The league paid out $16M in rev share to the players last season, but you think they are subsidized. Owners are spending $50M-$90M on practice facilities, and $25M on charter flights, yet according to its all subsidized.

@MAGAmaddogRay @togethxr @TheWNBPA @WNBA It also excludes the $1B in franchise fees the league has collected over the last few years. And the rev share payouts would have been greater in 2026, which is why the league wanted to get this deal done.

@MAGAmaddogRay @togethxr @TheWNBPA @WNBA There was no loss last year. The league paid out $16M in rev share payments. $200M of revenue, less than $20M in base salary, plus $16M in rev share payment means the league had $164M left over for its bills. That's a rough estimate.

@StP4blo @PARobert @Balldontlie the players receive 35% of the overage. Thus the total revenue in 2025 was $200M. The total player salaries was less than $20M. Add in the rev share payout its $36M. How can the league not make money when its has $164M left to pay its bills after player salaries?

@StP4blo @PARobert @Balldontlie They literally paid out $16M in rev share last season for the first time in history. Its based on 20% compounded rev growth from a baseline year in 2019. So revs had to grow 20% each year. So if $52M was the baseline in 2019, 2025 baseline is $155M. The $16M payout is based

@PARobert @Balldontlie WNBA ratings are better than NHL ratings. People are so lazy and misinformed its a joke. They take a quote from 2018 and act like its still relevant today. And they ignore the fact the NBA owns 42% of the WNBA.

@MattCouture5 @jmGreekwedding Meanwhile there are more ownership groups willing to fork over $250M for a franchise then available franchises. And team owners are dropping $50M-$90M on practice facilities. That's right, the league is so broke they are spending $50+M on cost centers.

@MattCouture5 The MLS as a league has been losing money for years - never have seen a post about Messi making $70M a year.

The amount of people who took the last part literal is hilarious. They’ve been losing money for years and haven’t ended. Please take a step back and get the point lmfao

@walkedim @Jimis1523 @MattFinkes You are basing this off a quote from 2018. The WNBA earned over $200M in rev last season, paid its players $20M, then an additional $16M after the season in rev share. Its teams are building $50M-$90M practice facilities, and ownership groups are lining up to pay $250M to join.

@mws316 @DraftKings Lets try some basic math for folks like Mike. If the salary cap is $7M, and there are 15 teams, how much revenue does the WNBA expect to earn on average during the term if the players are getting 20% of the leagues revenue?

The WNBA's new collective bargaining agreement will result in a MASSIVE pay day for the players 💸 The salary cap jumps from $1.5 million to $7 million while average salaries jump 400% 🤯 (h/t ESPN)

@MattFinkes I'd like to agree with you because the WNBA financials have been abysmal, but they did just sign a $200,000,00/yr TV deal... Salary cap is $7,000,000 per 15 teams which is only $105,000,000... They are much closer to breaking even than ever before...
