If you follow progress closely, there are already clues hinting at a fast takeoff. Our economy (thanks to AI and very advanced automation tech, nanotech) will likely be 100s to 1000s of times bigger by the late 2030s/early 2040s. We’re talking about Star Trek level wealth here. Star Trek writers were incredible and predicted many technologies, but they were thinking linearly. Our progress is double exponential now, which means a Star Trek like world is coming in the next decade, not the 2200s.

Germ theory denialism is the pseudoscientific belief that germs do not cause disease and that germ theory is wrong. It’s over 160 years old. It thrives in the alternative medicine and anti-vaccine communities. And it’s not hard to imagine why: If one believes that germs don’t cause disease, then it stands to reason that public health interventions aimed at preventing the spread of germs—such as masking and vaccination—are useless, and that alternative medicine treatments, such as unsupported supplements, diet protocols, and “detoxes,” are the true pathways to health. Germ theory denialism provides a unifying theoretical framework to justify such views.

@joeroganhq It's a time worn well known trope. Half of what is taught in medical school turns out go be false. Unfortunately it's not clear which half.

@anicca1031 @NutritionMadeS3 Even if the data is trash that shows the benefits of seed oil, where is the good data showing it is harmful? Assuming it's harmful because bad data shows it's beneficial doesn't follow.

@NutritionMadeS3 Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. When the data is trash, garbage is the output. I wonder why there hasn't been any funding to research the deleterious effects of seed oils. Just kidding, we all know why.

@NewsHour @LisaDNews And if you really need assistance when you miss a paycheck at a job which has a total compensation ( salary, benefits and job security) that is comfortably above the average American worker. It's difficult to care.

@NewsHour @LisaDNews You provide no salary information for these workers which in addition to their generous benefit packages makes them quite affluent compared to the truly needy. If you did there would be no story as nobody is going to be interested in a person with a 100k income trolling foodbank

The government shutdown reached day 24 on Friday, marking another milestone for federal workers as they missed a paycheck. That is putting the squeeze on family finances, and many federal workers are now turning to local food banks to help put food on the table. @LisaDNews reports.

The average doctor knows less about nutrition than the average person who's been carnivore for 6 months. Not because doctors are stupid. Because medical school doesn't teach it. Pharmaceutical companies fund medical education. They don't profit from "eat meat and avoid seed oils." They profit from statins, metformin, and insulin. Follow the money. Always.

@burby_geek @NutritionMadeS3 Unfortunately all extreme diets resemble the jewish dietary guidelines of kashrut whereby a large amount of life is devoted to separating the clean foods from the impure. That devout jews don't mix meat and dairy I'm sure led to food combining fads

@NutritionMadeS3 Also any intervention that reduces quality of life for at best a dubious claim on quantity of life can't be worth it. If I hate strenuous exercise but am told it will add 5 years to my life. If true, I'll live a longer miserable life

@NutritionMadeS3 I've lost weight on keto and relatively high "good carb" vegan. What they have in common is they're boring, repetitive and pretty unpalatable. I can eat 5k a day of ice cream, but not steak or oatmeal.

When it comes to my diet, I think of 2 main things: #1. I'm glad I saw the light and changed my diet before I got any older. #2. How much damage have I already done to my body? I seriously hope it's not too much and it's reversible.
