I still don't know what this game is called.
What if we name it #screenshotsaturday? Is that a good name?

@clemmygames You need to prioritize finishing and shipping your game over making your perfect game.
English

@LandfallGames Will it replace a biome or make the climb longer?
English

@EZE3D Agreed! Inspiration and influence from others brought into a unique whole based on your personal perspective and vision is what originality is!

@FaustAugustus And of course the entire purpose of having manual intervention was to label it and use it as training data to try and improve the model. So it wasn’t the “mechanical turk” that people are accusing it of being. In fact this is a very normal process for improving automated systems.
English

The Indians were only queried when they couldn't accurately discern what you picked up, which was about 5% of the time. The other 95% of the time the cameras really were doing it automatically as advertised. However they couldn't get that 5% manual intervention rate down and so the system could not scale to larger stores.
English

@cwisbg Do you know if it's possible to use MultiMeshInstance2D for the trees for example, which require z-index ordering?
English

Couple layers going in in my game.
MultiMeshInstance2D for ground cover, getting their positions from the trees + random offset (cycling between a couple grass textures).
Sprite2D/AnimatedSprite2D for "everything" else (ysorted).

@XorDev Precompute a list of points using trig with a given precision and then select random elements from it...? Otherwise I think you need trig in any case.

Insisting that games optimize for “dopamine” is very confusing and severely limits game design.
You know what games maximize “dopamine”? Slot machines and pay-to-win games.
As a designer you need to make sure that your game relates to the player in terms of something human beings actually experience: emotions, interacting with friends, achieving goals, etc.
English

@DangRascals @tsoding Not nearly enough reward, games are usually not multi-hour struggle sessions with uncertain dopamine at the end
English

@gdechichi This is like telling somebody to make their own car because they want to see the grand canyon

@littleraucous Multiple games is multiple times more work, and each will be a fraction of your best quality. You can make multiple prototypes but once you find something that works, you should give it your all. A better way to handle risk management is to cap your investment of time and money.
