At Bathurst and Sheppard, in the heart of Toronto's Jewish community, signs depicting contemptuous antisemitic caricatures were openly displayed for the sole purpose of dehumanizing Jews. This is targeted hatred, in the name of protest. The Hindu community knows this playbook well. Khalistani extremists have repeatedly deployed dehumanizing imagery and slurs against Hindus. Tactics that echo the Nazi-era use of caricature and symbolism to degrade a people before doing them physical harm. From Hinduphobic slurs and death threats to the medieval-style assault on the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, the pattern is clear: unchecked hatred escalates. Yet time and again, Canadian streets have been the stage, and inaction has been the response from law enforcement. CoHNA urges @TorontoPolice to urgently investigate this incident and lay appropriate hate propaganda charges where warranted. Stringent laws are meaningless if unenforced. The normalization of open incitement erodes public trust in equal protection under the law. Decisive action is necessary to end the dehumanization of religious minorities.
