When I was probably 8, a Bayliner plant closed near my home town. My friends dad lost his job. Over the next ten years, that family fell from middle class, to lower middle class, to poverty- as the opioid crisis raged on. Manufacturing will come back to America, but it will be slow. We should cut regulation, provide zero interest loans, and treat labor education the same as we treat college education. An 18 year old can get $150,000 to learn “marketing”, but can’t get $1,500 to buy some tools. Or $15,000 to buy a van. America would be better if no one learned cursive and everyone learned to weld
