@angadc @nihiofkdi I don't know of a movie. It's just not history that is widely taught or well known in The West as it was essentially erased, but this is interesting. (There are still Roman identifying people in Istanbul.) The history of Byzantium podcast is good too. youtu.be/GZ2SuQr-ZEM

@DanielIvatt @angadc Byzantines were chipped away at for centuries, with their land shrinking and resources dwindling. Only reason Constantinople lasted as long as it did was its impregnability as a fortress.

@angadc Things that constitute humour - Differences between people, crude things, purile things, gently denigrating people, stereotypes, 'in group' observations, absurd contextual changes. Can't find humour in that if your persona has diametrically opposite values.

Not a comment on its morality or validity, but ppl don't seem to get that Elon is trying to get people to quit. Twitter are losing $$, by signalling like this it makes people leave. A tried and tested approach to dealing with a workforce who are institutionalized to an old regime

The explore page offered me nothing of any value whatsoever. My recommended follows have been the same people for 5 years and I have no intention of following any of them.

Looks like Elon Musk fired the entire curation team. These were the folks who tackled misinfo, contextualized conversations via the 'Explore' page, and helped make Twitter an unmatched source for breaking news. This will make Twitter noisier, more dangerous & less interesting
