as an american, i ate over 1,000 raw eggs over 6 months and I can say this is literally fine
i cracked a raw egg on my hot steaming rice no problem, and even drank them
it’s honestly mostly fine, i’m sure there’s a risk, but it’s not *that* bad

@benjamincowen Academia in part did it to themselves. Theres heavy incentive to chase big results over good science. If 10-20% of academic papers are misleading (conservatively low imo) then the reliability of the whole system crumbles exponentially

Someone could go to school for 4 years and study aerospace engineering, then get a PhD with a dissertation related to orbital mechanics, and some instagram influencer who watched a youtube video will be like "actually that guy is wrong" on a topic related to space travel and people will believe them.
I'm not sure how we got here, but I hope we go back to a society where credibility is earned with rigorous training in the associated field, not by a popularity contest.

Women less often are interesting in engineering than men
More women would do engineering if the space was less male dominated
Unfortunately these form a feedback loop that drives the gender disparity higher

My graduating class of Aerospace Engineering at a university of 33k people was less 10% women.
My university prided itself in having a high percentage of women in engineering majors at 25% and that was largely due to a biomedical engineering program that had a 50% ratio.
I have been the only woman in an engineering department at two jobs.
Our work is not finished.
The STEM outreach is fantastic these days but the alctual engineering industry still has work to do

The women seem to outnumber the men in Mission Control and are a huge part of this Artemis mission. I don’t think we have a problem with women in STEM.
