@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL @whatever 4/4 The other main issue I have with Prot view, is the amount of feminism that has made it into the church. Catholics have the same problem. I tend to see prot churches claim they are counterculture but, they still follow many cultural feminist norms.

Let me start off by apologizing myself. I couldn't tell if you were a bot, or a troll giving me bot answers. Understand that I'm dealing with bots and trolls all day so it gets exhausting. I like to conversate with genuine people who want to have honest conversations. Not trying to force anyone to agree with me or anything. I can understand your confusion also concerning protestants. I can speak to this exact example because this just happened at the church I attend. Our recent lead pastor was spiritually abusing his authority for years and the congregation was putting up with out of respect. He was not holding himself accountable, he was going directly against the board members trying to correct him on certain matters, he started to be very materialistic and was mishandling money, and was not meeting the immediate financial needs of some members who were being put out on the street. This pastor got his license revoked by the Methodist organization (I am not a Methodist although I attend there) and instead of him sitting his butt down to get his life right before God and repent, what he did instead is went and started his own church and a big portion of the church went along with him. I'm saying all this to say, it doesn't matter if you are part of an organization like the Orthodox church, a protestant, etc. Sinful unrepentant people will do sinful unrepentant things. This man got his license revoked and still started a church full of followers. Even in the Orthodox church what are they going to do? Hang the guy and send him to the afterlife to MAKE SURE he doesn't start a new church? The people following him also willfully ignored the issues, some of them knowing the issues in DETAIL. So the the issue isn't Protestantism is BAD because anyone can start a church, the issue is sinful people and those who want to follow them because they like what they teach, even if it's not the word of God. At the end of of it all they will all have their day in judgement and Jesus Christ will separate the sheep from the goat. Vengeance belongs to God remember? So there's no need for Man Made doctrines to try to enforce authority. God is the ultimate enforcer and His word is our authority. We need only to make sure we are submitted to God and submitted to one another (pastors, teachers, deacons, prophets, etc) with a humble enough heart that we can receive biblical correction from a brother if needed. For example JayDyer and Andrew Wilson ABSOLUTELY need biblical correction for the way they conduct themselves, bringing up people's past sins, all the cursing and smoking, dishonest ways of conversation etc. but is the Orthodox church going to force them? Of course not. Point is the issue isn't Protestantism, the issue is prideful human beings who refuse to be corrected and are more interested in social media content rather than being righteous in conduct.

Andrew Wilson singlehandedly proved why @GodLogic_GL is not a grifter. Because it's an absolute waste of time to debate with close minded individuals who are going to spend 3 hours using a debate tactic called "Sea-Lioning", making bad faith arguments the entire time, listening to dudes curse nonstop. Andrew Wilson, by his own definition, is a grifter. He just runs around making bad faith arguments for the thrill of the debate, that's all. No real interest in what's true, just making TONS of money debating people with bad faith arguments and trying to "steamroll" to get as much air time as possible. This is an absolute waste of time. What Avery is ACTUALLY doing is exercising the Biblical wisdom that came out of the very mouth of Jesus - Matthew 7:6 ESV [6] “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you. Wasting time arguing with these boneheads would be throwing pearls before swine. Absolute waste of time, and UNWISE. Just MARK AND AVOID.

@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL @whatever 3/4 I still attend a protestant church, but I remember the constant disagreements in Bible college. I agree some ideas are just dumb and obv. false. But others are complete opposites and both have good biblical cases. It's always seemed to me like a "tiebreaker" is missing.

@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL @whatever 2/3 I also realized I was being really aggro and you were making thoughtful responses. If situations were reversed I would be super annoyed lol. For the record, your view of how scripture is interpreted has been my view most of my life. I've only been asking questions recently

@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL @whatever 1/2 (or 3 lol) Yeah I agree with a good portion of what you're saying. And I'm probably being extra charitable to the Orthodox view because I'm outside looking in and am unaware of most of the problems they have, whereas growing up protestant I saw a lot of garbage.

@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL @whatever No I get all that, and I apologize for my previous snark. But I’ve seen people go through this exact process and still come away with different conclusions. To me, it seems like the Protestant answer to this problem is “go start your own church.”

The same exact way if Two people go to a court house, before a judge, they both experienced the same exact event but both have two contradictory stories of what happened. How does a judge figure out which one is the correct story? The one that bears the most consistent amount of evidence within context of the event. The Bible is the Judge, context clues, basic reading comprehension, sentence structure. The Hebrew and Greek language. What does each individual word mean? Etc. dude you act like we didn't learn basic reading comprehension in elementary school. I'm genuinely surprised at how many adults I have to engage with who don't understand what basic reading comprehension is.

@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL @whatever Oh, I thought this response was to my other question. In the above comment, I was exaggerating to try and prove a point. It probably wasn’t the best way to carry on our conversation, so I’ll say that’s my bad .

@5Solas2 according to their website the fee covers the maintenance man and the worship leader for their time to facilitate the service. Isn’t the worker worthy of his wages?

Most of it interprets itself and most of it is black and white. Even when Jesus is talking in parables he makes sure he explains it to the disciples right after, in plain language. Let's also not forget that the 12 disciples were mostly fisherman, not college scholars with 15 degrees, meaning the Bible was written for the basics to be understood by anyone. So to answer your question directly, scripture rarely has to be interpreted, it mostly just needs to be understood with common comprehension. All the basic doctrines that we NEED to believe in are all written out in plain language with no room left for interpretation. For example when people ask Paul "should we then sin more so that grace may abound more??" What did Paul write? "Of course not, by no means!" And then proceeded to explain in plain language why. So this myth that everything has to go through some secret private interpretation that only the bishops at the top know of because they're the DEVOUT ones, is exactly that, a myth. Scripture interprets scripture. Let's not act like the Bible is some giant puzzle that no one can understand except the bishops. Nonsense.

@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL @whatever Yeah if you went to the website of the parish, you would see that the fee goes to the maintenance man and the worship leader, both required for the service. You’re saying they don’t deserve to get paid. You’re violating Scripture.

Yes the worker is worthy of his wages, absolutely, but all that means is that when people give offerings and tithe the worker is worthy of being taken care of, having his basic needs met. The same person that wrote that however, Paul never ever charged anyone to get baptized, or to receive Christ, or to get a demon cast out of them. You would be treating salvation like something you can buy. Peter even rebuked people for trying to "buy the Holy Spirit" and told them "may you and your money perish!" For even thinking they could buy the things of God.

@Danielthewolfen @paleochristcon @JayDyer It was a comical prompt mocking the defense of Jay's accusation against Avery. That's all it was. The root of what the conversation needed to be was no secret to anyone.

Much love to @paleochristcon, Andrew is a legend. However, he lost this debate - badly. 1. First time I've seen Andrew come out of the gate in bad faith. He knew the prompt was a joke, yet treated it as gospel. 2. Andrew then proposes hypotheticals to the "joke prompt" that make no sense whatsoever. They even fail logically. (It doesn't matter what someone "thinks" the truth is. The actual truth has no bearing on the opinon of someone who said it. That is logically consistent.) 3. Then he goes to defend the commentary of @JayDyer (where he affirms the accusation from @muslimorthodoxy that @GodLogic_GL is a grifter), but offers no actual evidence to support Jay's position on this. 4. In the end it's just Andrew trying to get "gotcha" moments instead of actually addressing the REAL topic. In this debate Andrew does everything he possibly can not to talk about what actually happened. 5. Throughout the debate Andrew pretends to play ignorant as to the true motivations of the Dawa Guys, and why they are all flocking to Jay's defense. Andrew went in hostile, not willing to do anything or engage in anything other than try to catch David in a logical fallacy so he could claim a superficial victory. I respect @paleochristcon & @JayDyer both, very much. It's dissapointing to see them completely blind as to why they all of a sudden have a vibrant muslim fan base 🤦‍♂️ I would like to see @JayDyer apologize to @GodLogic_GL & retract his accusation. @Acts17David should do the same and retract what he said about @JayDyer being cultish. Everyone mend fences and move on to what's important; falsifying the most dangerous ideology ever created - Islam. A hard pill to swallow for both, but that's the right thing to do guys. I know a bunch of these "Apologists" behind the scenes. Publicly they act like saints and don't swear, never drink, and are very pious. Then you get together with them behind the scenes and they cuss like sailors and talk tons of shit. I dont change behavior because of a camera.

@realStopFaking @paleochristcon Also saying “Andrew went in hostile” DW was giving as good as he was getting. Maybe they could have both been more charitable and I would say they were talking past each other quite a bit.

@realStopFaking @paleochristcon I actually agree that Andrew did not have evidence for saying GL is a grifter. But DW did not present a very good defense. There’s a difference between “Andrew won the debate” and “I agree with everything Andrew said.”

@Eli_StayFocused @abforn @GodLogic_GL Uh you referenced one verse about not casting pearls before swine? By that standard I could just throw it back at you and say you’re the swine and I’m in the wrong for talking to you lol
