@LilithPoker If you have to pay US taxes, you should not be playing any tournaments this year if you are trying to be profitable imo. Good decision

I didn't satellite into this beautiful $5k 60min blind levels WPT tournament, so I was contemplating the idea of regging directly into it. But look at the field of diamonds here. 👀 Let's say - optimistically - that I have an eROI of 5-15% (flight 1C is probably the most profitable). That makes me $250-$750 in $ EV for two days of play with HUGE variance when my ABI is $1.5k. I decided not to. Someone please help me kill the leftovers of my persistent ego-infused bankroll-damaging FOMO and remind me that I'm doing the right thing by choosing printing over praying (especially after having a bad year). 🥺😆

Prediction markets and cash game streams should probably stay separate. If I'm one of these players, what's stopping me from betting $500K on myself to lose + then having "an off night" on stream? The reality, at the moment, is nothing. It's not like poker has a governing body.

@TexasKimPoker @WSOP I’m just surprised how many Americans are completely ignoring the new tax laws and still playing poker tournaments full time

It’s sad to see the Monster Stack become a re-entry @WSOP . I always labeled this tournament as the “Rec Player’s Main Event”. Changes like this make it harder for the average Joe to bink the dream. But, maybe I’m just a rec tournament player myself now…

@StevenBridges I said it in the thread as well. It's such a ridiculously stupid take, because why does he think card counting is hated in Casinos? It's because knowing what's removed from the deck literally changes the odds.

How can WSOP save itself next summer with the new tax laws? I think high rollers will struggle & the 10k championship mix events that are mostly comprised of American professionally over 35 who want to do things by the book. Can they be changed to $5k with single reentry?

@audavidb @tonydunsttv It does not matter how soft the tourneys are. It becomes unbeatable in an already difficult tax market for volume players.

@tonydunsttv May actually make high rollers beatable for the upper mid tier….thus creating a whole new group and then bringing the high rollers back later….more rake is better to get rid of the ev nits. We’ve heard this argument before and it’s not as crazy as people say it it

Of course I support congresswoman Titus in her efforts but I don’t think the bill will be amended this year. I’m just guessing, but I’ve asked many peers about their plans going forward, so here’s how I see it playing out for different types of poker players next year 👇
Dina Titus@repdinatitus

Earlier this year the BS Budget Bill reduced the tax deduction for gambling losses to 90%. In response, I introduced the FAIR BET Act to restore the commonsense 100% tax deduction to protect professional and recreational gamblers. I was the first in Congress to introduce this fix and haven’t stopped garnering support from members and stakeholders since. In fact, the #FAIRBETAct has up to 21 bipartisan co-sponsors with @RepEzell most recently joining! It is now critical for @WaysandMeansGOP to add this bill to the legislative calendar before the year ends. We must get this fixed.

@DavidKayePoker Yeah It incentivizes you to do crazy gambles and shot takes if you are up small or around break even. Definitely a terrible environment for someone trying to be in poker for the long run and operate like a business.

If the 2026 Gambling Tax change is not repealed, I will not be playing online poker next year. Scenario: Wins: $2,100,000 Losses: $2,000,000 Income: $100,000 Wins: $2,100,000 Losses (90%): $1,800,000 Taxable Income: $300,000 How can you tax Americans on money we didn't earn!?

I run almost everything I write through AI or grammarly for cleaner grammar and clarity. If you’re not utilizing AI, you’re gonna fall behind. It’s like refusing to embrace the internet 20 years ago. Big difference between people who write their own ideas and use AI to clean it up… vs people who have AI write the ideas for them. Don’t lump all AI use into the same bucket or you’re not seeing the forest for the trees.

Poker Twitter has been rough lately. A lot of negativity, and most of it gets amplified because a few big accounts drive the tone. It can feel like one person can’t change anything, but that’s just not true. If you want this space to feel more supportive, there is something small but powerful you can do: When someone posts something that helps you, inspires you, or makes you think… tell them. Reply. Quote-tweet. DM. Say it in person. Whatever. Positive feedback doesn’t travel on its own — you have to push it. Negativity hits the algo harder, but the truth is, there are way more positive people and meaningful things happening in poker than the timeline suggests. They just don’t get the same spotlight. And here’s the part most people don’t realize: Even the people doing great work — the ones you’d assume are confident — deal with self-doubt. Social media makes the loudest critics look like the majority. A simple “hey, this helped me” or “I appreciate what you do” goes further than you think. It keeps people motivated and shines a light on what they are doing. It keeps good ideas alive. And it pushes the culture in the direction we all say we want. Be the person who pushes the good stuff forward. It compounds.

Not to over state the obvious, but what prestige? Every operator in this space has historically put bottom line first, players second. We continue to show up in droves bc where there's rec $ there's win rate. Name a single operator in this space associated with prestige.

@abemurray @johnohallman Yeah, We'll be farming "artificially" grown humans for their body parts within a couple decades, and they'll have no rights since they have no family or attachments. They will be wholly owned by either corporations or the government. Sounds wonderful.

Pregnancy is an insane cost on women and humanity. Progress on artificial wombs is as close to objective good as you’ll get in science and the hate that this technology is receiving is baffling
MAVERICK X@MAVERIC68078049

An artificial womb that successfully grew a baby lamb This is disturbing on so many levels and giving me the Matrix movie vibes.. We are finally at the stage where we are playing God now & the next thing you know we will be heading into a large scale human clone production.
