"It feels like years go by very fast. I guess it's a sign that it's been very fun, but it's also disappointing in other ways."
"I always wish I would have gone further, but I will do my best to make sure that this year counts. For my tenth year in 2027, I will make it count even more."

I'll take this opportunity to point out how Eric Foreman from House better explores racial identity and real character change than current year slop medical dramas.
Dr. House uses identity based insults against everyone on his team to push their buttons; in turn the team members are trying to prove themselves and assert themselves against the boss. Eric Foreman is the more outwardly composed of the three but has lingering sensitivity owing to his family background and incarcerated brother. His career goals are oriented toward gaining control and professional recognition.
Foreman's sense of entitlement, dismissiveness of others, and defiant nature are often shown to be more similar to House than he cares to admit. When his own life is on the line he confesses to his father that he, like House, has lost religious faith. He doesn't believe in an afterlife and is scared of death. He pressures those around him to try dangerous measures and risk their own jobs if it means saving his life. It's also revealed he views House as the best doctor he's ever worked with, even as Eric tries to loosen his control.
Later in the series Foreman tries interviewing for jobs at other hospitals to get out from underneath House's shadow. Despite his impeccable credentials he finds doors closed to him - the field sees him as tainted by association with House and a professional liability.
Towards the end of the show the dynamic is reversed - Foreman has ended up as the new boss. He has the job he wanted, but is still attached to the only institution that will have him. He carries himself with more confidence and maturity but is clearly frustrated and dissatisfied.
Foreman's race and progression through life is an inseparable part of how he relates to the world, but race is not presented as determinative of his experience. His conflicts on the show are never contrived identity scripts like "people assumed I was a nurse"; "I am disrespected as the black doctor", or "I have imposter syndrome and need to assert myself". In this world; being a black doctor isn't a remarkable thing; It's only important to Foreman individually that he attained his status and seeks recognition. That last thing he would want is for his accomplishment to be qualified by his race or hints of favoritism.
Foreman unquestionably has the skills and confidence from the first episode, so the story focuses on the choices he makes and how they reveal his worldview. He experiences no real racism on the show; his occasional attempts at standing up for the collective dignity of blacks are half-hearted as ultimately he shares House's elitism and has distanced himself from black culture and solidarity. The racial humor and general antagonism from House are the perfect surface-level conflict for characters whose worldview is ultimately matched.
I still think about this show and these characters often; It had a unique irreverence and a sort of perfectly modern post-racial-but-racially-aware sensibility befitting a society of authentic diversity. I genuinely think it made me less racist for watching it. I hope we can see a return to smart shows like this instead of another decade of pandering skits in which Girl Doctor has to learn to stand up for herself and then everybody claps.

Greetings WoW Classic Friends,
I've had people reach out to me over the past several months asking why I've been so quiet on socials recently. As I've said in the past, this mostly means I'm just busy, but I think I'd like to explain a bit about what I've been busy with and how my position on the WoW Classic team has changed.
As the team has grown and the complexity and number of projects (from SoD to MoP to Anniversary, etc.) of classic has increased, we've needed to look at how our team is structured. This includes making some moves for certain individuals to help them focus their attention where it is most needed. For my part, I've historically occupied an odd spot on the team, working directly with our dev team and WoW team leadership to help plan the things we want to do, helping steer the design direction of our various seasons and game versions, doing some actual design implementation, while also being responsible for large portions of game production for a variety of classic projects. This includes working with partner teams, removing roadblocks, and generally being a jack of all trades behind the scenes.
However, for the past few years I have steadily shifted further and further towards game design and implementation as my primary focus. During Season of Discovery in particular I created a variety of content including a number of class rune discoveries, the Tarnished Undermine Real system, the Shadowy Figure questlines, several of the BWL epic weapon quests, and the Ashbringer legendary questline, to name just a few things I worked on.
As a result, last year I officially changed roles from Game Production to Game Design. I've got my whole focus now dedicated to helping lead the long term vision for content and narrative on the classic team, while continuing to implement new content.
So that's the biggest reason I've been so silent and will probably continue to be relatively quiet for the time being. It wouldn't be very appropriate for me to comment on projects like Anniversary and MoP Classic or answer questions about them due to my now-reduced involvement there.
So that was a lot of words to say "I'm still here, I'm just really busy" but I felt it wouldn't hurt to explain a bit about what I've personally been up to. The team's growth is strictly a good thing, but we have been in an adjustment period. We are still finding our footing with some folks in new roles and new team members getting up to speed, but we are really starting to hit our stride and it's incredibly cool to be a part of.
I'm really excited for you to see what other awesome stuff the team is working on in due time, but for now, I'm going to keep my head down and keep chugging along. Always happy to read the comments you leave, even if I don't have a ton to say in reply just this moment, so please don't hesitate to @ me to say hey.
Happy New Year Everyone!

We're eliminating egregious pre-pull behavior and making some class adjustments to make pulling bosses not feel like a waiting game after you finish doing trash in MoP Classic:
